As our Corporate Development Associate, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that the Group appropriately maximises value by assisting all aspects of the Group’s Inorganic activity, including M&A and Strategic Partnerships, and through management and optimisation of the Group’s capital resources and broader business portfolio mix to support the Group’s strategy.

You’ll need to be a self-motivated team player with extensive analytical and stakeholder management skills. There is a wide variety to this role as it’s strategic, dynamic, commercial and high profile. This team acts as a strategic partner to our Executives and board helping them to maximise value creation for the organisation.

What you'll be doing:

  • Monitor macroeconomic trends, industry and market dynamics, competitive landscape and potential disruptors to identify emerging opportunities and threats.
  • Working closely with the other members of the Corporate Development team to assist in the execution of a comprehensive Corporate Development strategy
  • Performing analysis to support strategic advice and insights on Corporate Development matters to senior leadership.
  • Provide analysis to help influence and enhance capital allocation and re-deployment decisions supporting growth and business turnaround objectives.
  • Provide capital analysis activities including ROCE, WACC, stress & scenario testing (SST), portfolio analysis, business valuations and capital optimisation.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of statutory capital, regulatory solvency capital and liquidity management information provided to the Board, CEC and FET through enhanced visualisation, focussed information and succinct narrative.
  • Support in the preparation of internal briefing papers for senior management including the CEO, CFO and Group Corporate Development Director.
  • Support in the preparation of governance papers for Board, BRC, CEC, CEC TC, CFEC, FET and other committees.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with Market / Business Units and Group Functions to support the development and delivery of value-adding projects and analysis.
  • Assist the continuous enhancement of our portfolio analysis processes and data, providing the insights and rationale for key decision makers to take bold and impactful decisions that improve return and reduce risk.
  • Assist inorganic transaction origination and execution across the Group.
  • Assist identification and prioritisation of our areas of strategic growth across the Group (the “Gaps”)
  • Assist identification and evaluation of potential acquisition and strategic partnership opportunities that align to our Gaps, through collaboration with both Group and Market Unit (“MU”) leadership teams.
  • Assist in the execution of Group driven Inorganic transactions
  • Perform valuation analysis of Inorganic opportunities.
  • Assess the impacts on key financial and non-financial metrics (capital, liquidity, ROCE/profitability, etc) of potential Inorganic activity on the Group.
  • Conduct financial due diligence and coordinate other due diligence workstreams on potential acquisitions and strategic partnerships.
  • Support the provision of Group oversight and support for MU led Inorganic transactions
  • Assisting regular detailed reviews and strategic option analysis of our strategic businesses as part of the Group’s active portfolio management activity to identify potential divestment opportunities
  • Assist divestment preparations and subsequent transaction execution where appropriate.
  • Assess certain growth capital expenditure requests that originate from across the Group, where requested by the Group Corporate Development Director.
  • Support both the Group M&A and Capital Management Policy and related processes.
  • Assist the assessment framework for how the Group assesses and compares different capital investment actions (e.g. build / partner / buy) in a consistent manner across the Group

What you'll bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required, and you will likely be a qualified Chartered Accountant or Chartered Financial Analyst.
  • Experience in corporate development, M&A, finance, professional services, investment banking, or private equity
  • Experience in Insurance and / or Healthcare industries
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the team and across the Group.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Skilled in problem solving which will be needed in order to interpret complex technical and operational information and translate their impact to Bupa Group’s businesses.
