About the Role

PURPOSE OF POSITION: 

Transform today’s manufacturing by developing standard PLC and equipment programming concepts to support Magna Structures Tennessee implementing an IoT architecture. The Industry 4.0 Engineer would be responsible for developing the integration between the systems and production lines and implementing streaming machine controls.

Your Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY: 

Managing system integrators, build the architecture with the infrastructure, machine sensors and systems

Support multiple on-going projects in a fast-paced environment.

Explain technical concepts and analysis implications clearly to a wide audience and be able to translate business objectives into actionable analysis.

Brainstorming for new ideas and ways to improve development and delivery.

Developing KPIs, metrics, and other monitoring tools to track I4.0 production environments.

Providing detailed specifications for proposed solutions including materials, external services and internal resources required

Working with source control tools 

Actively troubleshooting any issues that arise during testing and production.

Performing additional duties as assigned

Acting with honesty and integrity, and make ethical business choices in accordance with Magna’s Compliance Policies and Procedures

Understand and implement Magna Industry 4.0 Architecture and standard concepts.

Know and understand Magna Structures Tennessee quality policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

Be available on an “on call” basis to handle emergencies during off shifts

Minimum 4 plus (4+) years in industries and automation process

Strong knowledge of Industry 4.0 integration

Proven leader

Act as the subject matter expert for IOT Development. 

Facilitate discussions with all departments regarding business challenges. 

Trial and prove out any new proposed ideas for system utilization

Collaborate with developers, programmers and designers in conceptualizing and developing system enhancements to either CMS, FunnelCloud, etc.

Develop and run simple queries as part of the data analysis responsibility.

Your preferred qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Understanding of multiple computer programming languages (ex: JavaScript, C#, Python, C++, Java)

Experience with databases and different types of data storage

Strong experience with relational databases like SQL Server

In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework.

Experience with the MQTT protocol

Time and project management skills, with the capability to prioritize and multitask as needed

Strong analytical and problem-solving ability to design an effective solution

Familiarity with BI technologies (ex., Microsoft Power BI)

PLC programming background in Siemens and Rockwell controllers among others

Ability to interact well with others in a selfless manner. Need to be able to work well in a group without being domineering or condescending.

Should be flexible to adapt to new technologies. 

Needs to be able to work under time constraints with a quick response under pressures, which are sometimes dictates by the production floor

EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED:

Some of the equipment and tools used are computer, telephone.

KNOWLEDGE:

Build a working knowledge of PCLs and how to integrate with the production manager product. 

Knowledge of manufacturing is a requirement. 

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Products 

Knowledge in ERP and MES systems.

EDUCATION: 

College or university degree. Degree should be in computer science or information systems. 

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Proven experience in a similar support role. This will not be an entry level position. 

Experience working with MES , MQTT and Brokers

Experience working within the automotive industry 

Background working with database query tools

Background in automation
