As a Packaging Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing innovative packaging solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that packaging meets regulatory requirements and aligns with business objectives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine technical expertise with creative problem-solving to drive continuous improvement in packaging processes and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Act domain specialist in the field with the Global Packaging Innovation team, support project management, automation maintenance and performance optimization groups
  • Define, develop, maintain and update all packaging material specifications which is crucial to contain, protect, communicate and make convenient the consumption of Chobani products by its consumers as well as support procurement efforts
  • Define, develop and test all packaging elements such as cups, foils, plastic roll stock, bottles, labeling corrugated cases, pallet patterns
  • Participate in all phases of a project from initial team meetings through pre-award support, proposal generation, installation, commissioning and start up
  • As assigned by the Project Manager, specify packaging material in his field of expertise which meet project expectations within the time and budget constraints of the approved project
  • Provide guidance and expertise to operations packaging engineers, plant operations, project managers and other functions related to packaging projects
  • Support the R&D, Innovation team, Corporate Quality and Sales & Marketing in the progression of packaging systems and solutions for Chobani’s customers and consumers
  • Build and Maintain a Packaging Master Plan across Chobani’s facilities providing mid to long term vision of packaging capabilities
  • Interacts with operations, marketing, NPD, quality, sales and multiple equipment suppliers
  • May be assigned as project manager on specific projects as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in similar engineering roles
  • The position requires a high degree of responsibility, leadership, decision-making ability and self-sufficiency
  • The engineer is expected to have experience in packaging equipment and materials related to the food and beverage industry
  • Experience in project life cycle work, contract & schedule
  • Experience in thermoforming, injection molding and extrusion blow molding
  • Experience with polyolefins (PE, PP, HDPE, PS, PET) & biopolymers preferred, their properties and use as food containers
  • Knowledge in sachets, pouches, and related flexible packaging
  • Pro-activity, personal drive, decisiveness, commercial / business insight, interpersonal skills, excellent teamwork skills, organizational competency, and the ability to prioritize
  • Proficient in the use Microsoft Office software, Microsoft Project, CAPE or TOPS, FreeCad or SolidWorks and AutoCAD

Compensation Range: $92,000.00 - $138,000.00, plus bonus.
