Job Description
The Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources is seeking an intern to support both External Affairs and the Green Communities Division. External Affairs leads DOER’s communications efforts, including media relations, public events, web content and social media. The Green Communities Division serves all 351 Massachusetts cities and towns and provides grants, technical assistance, and local support to help municipalities reduce energy use and costs by implementing clean energy projects in municipal buildings, facilities, and schools.
The intern will work on a variety of initiatives including communications-related projects and activities, and a data-driven storytelling project and upcoming event for the Green Communities Division. The intern will interact with various DOER staff to gather information concerning projects and activities and coordinate efforts.
A strong candidate will have solid written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated experience using a graphic design platform or software, and good organizational skills. The intern will need to manage multiple projects with concurrent timelines and will need to be proactive, detail oriented, and able to work independently. Knowledge of or a desire to learn about Massachusetts’ energy priorities and initiatives is a plus.
