Summary The Marketing & Communications Manager will be a vital in-person member of the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center (FMPAC) marketing team who will have a dual report to the Director of Regional Marketing for Broadway Across America (BAA) and the Executive Director of the M&T Bank Exchange. The Marketing & Communications Manager will be responsible for all marketing and communications duties associated with the FMPAC for all non-Broadway events.

Duties and Responsibilities

MARKETING

  • Act as FMPAC’s in-house marketing point person for all non-Broadway series events, branded as Hippodrome Live; the M&T Bank Exchange; and the performing arts center’s institutional advancement. Assist Director of Regional Marketing (MD) as needed.
  • In collaboration with MD manage, schedule, and execute both email and social media content related to non-Broadway series events, the M&T Bank Exchange, and institutional advancement.
  • Collect and have materials created that are needed to promote Hippodrome Live events. Seek promoter approval for materials, emails, web assets, etc.
  • Create necessary Exchange materials and seek approval from, and collaborate with, ED of Exchange
  • Curate and share content as well as engage with patrons across all social media platforms for non-Broadway content.
  • Manage the creation, trafficking and approvals for all assets needed for non-Broadway series events, the M&T Exchange, and the FMPAC’s institutional advancement including, but not limited to, exterior signage, lobby signage, website(s), etc.
  • Organize, schedule, and manage all venue marketing assets for non-Broadway, the M&T Bank Exchange, and institutional messaging, including, but not limited to,exterior signage, lobby signage, website(s), etc.
  • Oversee and maintain advertising budgets for select non-Broadway series events, the M&T Bank Exchange, and institutional advancement projects.
  • Build, engage, and maintain relationships with local restaurants, attractions, and other neighborhood partners to provide exclusive discounts and/or promotions to extend the reach of the FMPAC’s marketing and PR campaigns.
  • Manage all updates needed for MTBankExchange.com and France-MerrickPAC.com, as well as support the MD with changes needed for BaltimoreHippodrome.com.
  • Support occasional onsite activities for the FMPAC outside of normal business hours.
  • Enact other duties as required to assist the FMPAC office including, but not limited to, administrative responsibilities, public relations, promotions, partnerships, and events.

COMMUNICATIONS & PUBLIC RELATIONS

  • Act as primary point of contact for all public relations inquiries, releases, etc. for the institutional advancement of the FMPAC, its venues, and non-Broadway series events. Assist MD as needed.
  • Pitch press opportunities to local media outlets to promote the FMPAC, its venues, and its executive staff.
  • Maintain an in-house media list to distribute releases and respond to press inquiries.
  • Source and manage external event calendar listings and promotional websites, such as Wedding Wire and The Knot.
  • Liaise with events, ticketing/box office, tech and facilities teams, as needed
  • Engage and nurture relationships with Downtown/Arts related organizations and other community partners for the advancement of the FMPAC.
  • Document all FMPAC press coverage and milestone events for both marketing usage and archival purposes.
  • Create and execute non-Broadway series (Hippodrome Live) community and media events, as needed.
  • Manage the public relations and community engagement plan for the M&T Bank Exchange.

Education and/or Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, advertising, arts administration and/or public relations. Special and live event experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with website content management system (CMS) preferred.
  • Experience with all social media platforms required; knowledge of platforms’ advertising and reporting capabilities preferred.
  • Additional experience may be substituted for education.
  • Experience with visual creative platforms such as Photoshop, InDesign, Canva are a plus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and highly organized with the ability to lead and/or manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Communication Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret advertising plans, email calendars, social media calendars, sales reports, and other performance analytics.
