Senior Treasury Accountant

An exciting and are opportunity has arisen here at AGL, for a Senior Treasury Accountant reporting into the Senior Manager, Group Accounting and Governance.

Key purpose of this role (and team)

The Group Accounting & Governance team is responsible for Group related accounting and the general ledger, financial governance and policies. Group related accounting covers accounting for the parent entity, treasury, investments, and various other Group related activities. This team plays a key role to ensure any Group wide items are appropriately accounted for and there are controls & governance in place across the wider finance team.

Key accountabilities of the role: 

• Treasury accounting including hedge accounting, transactional banking and coordination of the offshore team to reconcile the AGL bank accounts.
• Complete monthly external interest calculations and ensure treasury reconciliations are prepared and reflected accurately in the General Ledger
• Prepare HY/FY disclosure packs for Treasury financial instruments note and OFR disclosures.
• Assist Group Reporting with the preparation of external reporting requirements. Provide information to the auditors, and be a key contact for Treasury related matters.
• Perform monthly debt covenants compliance calculation and HY/FY sign off.
• Running and coordinating ad hoc Treasury accounting projects and modelling
• Documenting the Treasury accounting function process and continue to drive process efficiencies and implement improvements.
• Own and improve the governance of Treasury accounting systems and processes.

Owner of AGL’s intercompany processes

• Perform monthly intercompany reconciliation & oversee the overall intercompany processes.
• Perform monthly intercompany interest calculation and posting.
• Own and improve the governance of intercompany systems and processes.

Key member of Accounting and Governance team

• Assist and drive the month-end close process for areas across the group wide functions.
• Play a prominent role in contributing to a strongly engaged, high performing team that accomplishes its goals, and provides high quality outputs on time 
• Work on ad hoc projects as required.

What we need from you:

• Extensive Treasury accounting knowledge, including hedge accounting.
• Experience with Treasury Management System FIS Quantum or GTreasury
• Team player – works as part of a team to deliver on shared objectives, shares experience and knowledge to help develop others regardless of reporting lines, contributes to team projects and deliverables.
• Commercial – able to look beyond the numbers and understand commercial drivers and desired outcomes.
• Qualified accountant (CA/CPA)
• SAP system knowledge (preferred)
