Scopely is looking for a Data Scientist to join the brand new Game Integrity team of Monopoly GO! In this role you find ways to detect exploits, cheaters and other unauthorized use of our online services and apps. Moreover you analyze and model various options on how to deal with various groups of cheaters in the most ideal way as many of them are very engaged and love Monopoly Go! You create reports that show well the impact of different exploits and cheats and you provide prioritization recommendations based on impact and player segments. 

Monopoly GO! is our new casual game and a key franchise that has just become Scopely’s largest game, enjoyed by millions of players. The team is mainly based in Europe and the US with a remote-first approach but the willingness to travel several times a year to one of our hubs would be required. 

What You’ll Do 

• Assure Fair Play by identifying fraud, cheaters and exploiters using data science
• Research and identify ways to improve existing detection methods or to create new ones
• Use tools & tech such as SQL, Looker, BigQuery, Looker Studio, Google Spreadsheets, Excel and Google Presentation
• Create ad-hoc and automated queries that flag players as cheaters based on various data signals and data flags
• Work closely with the Data Engineering team to assure data is captured and transformed as needed and that the data quality is excellent
• Work closely with the Data Analytics to make sure metrics are well labels and fully understood and that all dashboards reflect the data correctly
• Work closely with the Operations and Technical Operations Specialists in the team to explore and asses existing and new exploits by cheating players
• Work closely with the Software Engineers in the team to understand how to measure the impact and differences of released improvements
• Use our internal tools to look or cross check player profiles
• Support large-scale punitive actions and monitor impact and potential side-effects closely
• Monitor closely in-game events such as Tournaments to identify unusual patterns early
• Define automated alerts based on data thresholds and data patterns
• Optimize queries and materialized views where it is needed
• Create reports about your findings including summarizing statistics 

What We’re Looking For 

• Extensive experience in fraud, cheat and exploit detection - ideally in the field of gaming
• 8 years of professional experience in software development or analytics
• Intellectual curiosity, analytical rigor, hard-working and a good intuition are a must!
• 4 or more years of experience as a Data Scientist preferable at a top-tier institution or firm
• You have first-class SQL skills and 3+ years of experience in a relevant role
• B.S. (Masters degree a plus) from a top institution in a quantitative or scientific field (Math/Stats, Economics, CS, Engineering, Physics, Psychology or similar)
• Professional experience applying data science, analytics, machine learning and computational techniques. Preferred experience in applying marketing modeling techniques e.g. media mix modeling, time series forecasting, segmentation / clustering.
• Professional experience programming using R, Python or similar in large datasets and implementing models in production.
• You have experience with the modern data stack (tools like BigQuery, Snowflake, dbt, Looker, Airflow, GitHub, and command line-based workflows) or hunger to work in that domain
• Experienced in using Excel / Google Spreadsheets
• You love collaboration and take pride in working in high-functioning teams
• A proactive mindset
• Excellent communication skills to understand business needs of cross-functional stakeholders, deliver findings and recommendations, as well as to drive collaboration.
