The Opportunity

The Business Analyst Sr role is responsible for Providing financial analysis, e.g. of U.S. statutory and quarterly IFRS (legal and management) and reserving results. Support successful implementation of key US P&C projects (i.e. changing the legal entity setup to improve capital efficiency.)

Responsibilities: 

  • Utilize advanced analytical tools and techniques to analyze financial data, identify trends, and generate actionable insights that inform strategic decision-making
  • Participate in cross-functional and cross-organizational project teams dedicated to driving strategic initiatives, focusing on analyzing the financial aspects of legal entity management, e.g. providing analyses for due diligence purposes, capital optimization strategies, financial transactions etc.
  • Build and maintain complex financial models to assess the impact of various scenarios and initiatives on the company's financial performance and capital position
  • Communicate financial analyses, and projects outcomes like M&A recommendations, and capital optimization strategies to internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams
  • Provide financial expertise and guidance to Strategic initiatives project managers to ensure projects are strategically aligned with FMR and Munich Re long-term goals
  • Refine the existing Power BI dashboards within FMR, collaborating closely with the data engineer of the Strategic initiatives team and several stakeholders across FMR to ensure uniformity of across dashboards, and align with the CFO’s reporting preferences
  • Assist in the development of a user-friendly interface for Power BI dashboards, ensuring accessibility and ease of use for stakeholders across FMR
  • Provide financial expertise to translate financial concepts into actionable insights within Power BI, tailoring data visualization and analysis accordingly and ensuring accuracy and relevance

Successful candidates will possess the following experience, skills, and capabilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related field
  • 5+ years relevant work experience in accounting, reporting, reserving or a related field
  • Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance products
  • Proficiency in conducting financial analysis and interpreting complex financial data
  • Demonstrated expertise in generating analytical insights and utilizing Power BI for financial reporting and decision-making support
  • Certified Public Accountant or Qualified actuary - Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (or similar designation from another actuarial association) a plus
  • Comprehensive knowledge of finance and/or actuarial concepts, at practical and strategic levels
  • Familiarity with U.S. Statutory accounting and reporting standards are a plus
  • Demonstrated project management experience preferred; open to candidates who demonstrate willingness to learn and develop project management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability of relaying complex financial and technical concepts to stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and viewpoints
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills, across all levels of management, with ability to influence and challenge decisions and processes as appropriate.
  • Participate in projects when needed

This role can be located in our Princeton, NJ or NYC, NY offices. The salary range posted below applies to the Company’s NYC location only. The base salary range anticipated for this position in New York is $ 110,500 - $162,000 plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO). The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in NYC. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
