Apex is looking for a Manager within its Private Equity team to have responsibility for the accounting and financial reporting of a portfolio of Private Equity Fund clients. The role involves all aspects of accounting services including but not limited to financial statements review and NAV reporting.

The Role & Key Responsibilities: 

  • Managing the day-to-day fund accounting and financial reporting services to a portfolio of Private Equity clients and structures, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures
  • Building detailed understanding of client portfolios including any entity specific requirements and applicable statutory regulations/requirements impacting accounting and reporting
  • Controlling and monitoring the bookkeeping and financial reporting processes
  • Managing the response to and the resolution of client and investor queries relating to accounting and financial information
  • Acting as the primary source of guidance to other team members to address and resolve client queries
  • Reviewing the financial statements in compliance with applicable GAAP (primarily IFRS and UK Accounting Standards)
  • Reviewing the NAV calculations, capital transaction workings, management accounts, and other calculations and reports in accordance with the fund documentations
  • Demonstrating understanding of the fund documentations and identifying any applicability in the accounting and reporting process
  • Performing complex carried interest and equalisation calculations
  • Planning and managing the audit process through liaison with the auditors, the client, and the administration team
  • Taking responsibility for the delegation of work within the team and ensuring work is undertaken by individuals at appropriate level
  • Working closely with the Private Equity Funds administration team to ensure that accounting records are accurate and transactions and activity within the portfolio are understood and incorporated into the accounting ledgers as appropriate
  • Coordinating all aspects of fund accounting and reporting with fund managers, advisers, non-executive directors, and other external parties, as necessary
  • Attending board meetings to present financial information
  • Managing and supervising junior team members
  • Working with other team managers in planning, coordination, and completion of all regulatory obligations and reporting requirements
  • Performing such other duties within the scope of the role to support the Senior Managers and Directors as may be deemed necessary from time-to-time

Skills Required:

  • JFSC Table 4 qualification such as ACCA, ACA CIMA (or equivalent qualification)
  • Proficiency in IFRS and UK Accounting Standards
  • Substantial accounting experience preferably within the private equity industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to develop strong and effective working relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Critical analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding of Jersey statutory laws and other related legal and regulatory requirements particularly those impacting financial accounting and reporting
  • Excellent project management and people management skills
