Main Duties & Responsibilities

Monogram Aerospace, a leading aerospace fasteners manufacturer, is seeking a dynamic and motivated Industrial Engineering Co-op to join our team for a 6–8-month term. As an integral part of our organization, the selected candidate will play a key role in facilitating Kaizen projects, capturing value stream maps, leading 5S initiatives, and contributing to overall process improvement initiatives.

Focus on assisting the Continuous Improvement department to help improve business processes for Monogram Aerospace Fasteners using Lean Six Sigma principles. This role is involved in planning, scheduling, and implementing continuous improvement activities (such as Kaizen) on the production floor of a manufacturing facility. It involves constantly looking for ways to help improve processes, products and performance by identifying problems, implementing solutions and measuring results.

Duties/Responsibilities

Facilitate Kaizen projects to drive continuous improvement in processes and operations

Create and capture Value Stream Maps (VSM) to identify manufacturing processes and eliminate inefficiencies in the production workflow. Lead improvement activities working with teams identified through the VSM's

Lead 5S projects to ensure a clean, organized, and efficient work environment

Contribute to and support various lean projects aimed at optimizing manufacturing processes

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement improvements and achieve operational excellence

Analyze data to identify opportunities for process optimization and waste reduction

Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions (WI).

Continuous Improvement Industrial Engineer will support implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles throughout all operations/processes

Investigate, experiment, and implement process improvements to maximize productivity

Conduct and participate in Kaizen events, as required

Conduct 6S audits, as required

Support Gemba process activities, as required

Perform other related duties as assigned

Salary Range: $55,000 - $70,000

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

Currently in the last year of Industrial Engineering or a recent graduate

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and methodologies

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

Strong leadership, problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to organize and plan use of time and people effectively and efficiently. Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Offer solutions, make information available to maintain an open line between you and your team, take initiative, prioritize tasks, and set reasonable expectations.

Business Acumen:

Ability to analyze data and identify opportunities to help drive productivity cost savings aligned with our company goals.

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel – Pivot tables and Vlookup), AUTOCAD and Solid Works.

Education and/or Experience:

B.S. Degree in Industrial Engineering or related Engineering / Engineering Technology Degree or demonstrated experience in a similar Manufacturing environment

0-3 years' experience

Basic Lean 6 Sigma methodologies

Strong computer and analytical skills

General basic manufacturing processes

Basic knowledge manufacturing principles and methods

Must be able to work in a highly collaborative team environment

Must be hands on and comfortable interfacing with plant personnel and operators

Understanding of basic problem-solving tools (DMAIC, PDCA, Fish Bone, and 5Why)

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Physical Demands:

Alternate between sitting and standing, exposed to higher noise levels when on the manufacturing floor, occasionally lift 25-30 pounds.
