Job Summary Job Summary This is an open until filled position. However, interested, qualified applicants are encouraged to apply by the first closing review date of April 24, 2024. The Position Reporting directly to the Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor of Human Resources plays a key role as the primary steward of human resources programs and services essential for the success of both students and employees within the District. In the capacity of the chief human resources officer, this high-ranking position strategically plans, organizes, administers, reviews, and evaluates comprehensive District-wide initiatives that align with regulations in federal and California state law, Title 5, CCCD board policies, and collective bargaining agreements. Oversees all aspects of human resources, including but not limited to recruitment and retention, employment services, labor contract negotiations, staffing, professional development, performance management, employee evaluations, discipline, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, & Anti-racism (DEIAA). Minimum Requirements:

  • A Master's degree from an accredited institution and 3 years of management experience in

human resources or related field.

OR a combination of education and experience that is at least equivalent to the above.

  • Demonstrated evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic,

socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds

of community college employees and students.

Desirable Qualifications

  • At least five years of general human resources administrative experience, of which three have

been performed in a comprehensive educational environment.

  • At least five years of increasingly responsible experience in negotiating and administering

collective bargaining agreements.

  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of participatory governance, academic

freedom, and collaborative decision-making with an interest-based approach.

  • Skills and aptitude to provide guidance and support to resolve personnel conflicts with a

proactive approach.

  • Strong communication skills including making effective presentations to large groups with

differing backgrounds.

  • Evidence of the development, enhancement, and promotion of comprehensive professional

development programs for faculty, classified, confidential and management employees.

  • Experience with computer systems and software applications related to human resources and

employer/employee relations programs.

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to employment in education generally, and

community colleges specifically.

  • Experience working effectively with students, staff, faculty, employee organization groups, a

Governing Board, and other governmental bodies.

  • Knowledge of California community college equal employment opportunity programs.
  • Earned Doctorate from an accredited institution is preferred but not required.
