Position Summary

The Distribution Center (DC) Intern role will have a Supply Chain and/or Logistics project focus. The Distribution Center (DC) Intern will complete a 12-week project-based assignment and complete a final project presentation at the end of the program. Will work closely with experienced professionals to learn about the supply chain, inventory management, and logistics processes while contributing to the efficiency and success of the distribution center.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory levels by conducting regular stock checks, reconciling discrepancies, and ensuring accurate records.
  • Order Processing: Support the order fulfillment process by picking, packing, and shipping products to customers or other distribution centers.
  • Receiving: Assist in receiving and inspecting incoming shipments, verifying the accuracy of the delivered products, and processing them into inventory.
  • Quality Control: Help maintain quality control standards by inspecting products for damage or defects and reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Material Handling: Operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyor systems to move, stack, and transport products within the distribution center.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Data Entry: Input and maintain accurate data related to inventory, shipments, and order processing in computerized systems.
  • Assist in Process Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives to optimize warehouse operations and enhance efficiency.
  • Collaboration: Work as part of a team with distribution center staff and other interns to meet daily goals and objectives.
  • Learning and Development: Attend training sessions and workshops to gain knowledge about logistics and distribution center best practices.
  • Adherence to Policies: Comply with company policies and procedures, including safety regulations and ethical standards.
  • Able to work weekends and most holidays
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work morning and evening shifts as business needs dictate. Will be scheduled to work between 20-25 hours per week during the 12-week assignment. 

Qualifications

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Enrolled in a relevant degree program (e.g., supply chain management, logistics, business). Willingness to learn and adapt to a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs. Basic computer skills and familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.

Position Hiring Range

The hiring pay range provides a guide for what we would reasonably pay for the position. Pay will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to: applicant’s education, relevant work experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data. Living Spaces reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Pay is determined by various factors including market demand, applicable skills, work experience and education, location, company budget, and in-demand skill sets.

Compensation: $16.00 - $17.00

Retail, Guest Services, and Distribution Center Team Members are eligible to receive team bonus based on meeting specific goals and KPI’s.
