Job Summary

As a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, documentation, and verification of Electrical & Control Systems used in advanced medical laser systems. A strong work ethic, self-motivation and ability to work collaboratively with other Engineering personnel are required to complete challenging engineering tasks. The successful candidate must be accountable to ensure products developed by IPG Medical meet both regulatory and customer needs, are cost effective and timely.

Job Function

  • Design, implement, test, and release analog/digital PCB designs for new products, and features.
  • Design, implement, test, and release embedded firmware for new products and features.
  • Debug, integrate, and test hardware and embedded firmware designs at the system level.
  • Document hardware and embedded firmware specifications and designs in accordance with applicable medical device development standards(e.g. software requirements, design specifications, risk analysis, verification & validation protocols)
  • Support and interact with other departments, including R&D, technical support, field service, and manufacturing
  • Compliance certification support

Requirements

Education requirements

  • BS or MS degree in electrical engineering 

Experience requirements

  • 10+ years of work experience in analog/digital PCB design and embedded firmware design
  • Schematic Capture and PCB layout using Orcad and/or Altium
  • Analog/Digital circuit design including FPGAs
  • Communications over SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth
  • Proficient in C and Verilog programming languages
  • Development of embedded firmware for ARM microprocessor or equivalent
  • Development of FPGA designs using Quartus Prime or equivalent
  • Transferring new designs to production, including test fixtures/procedures
  • Compliance testing activities

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22C.F.R. §120.15 are required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee.
