Raytheon is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Senior Principal Software Engineer to be an active participant on the software development team for Electronic Warfare (EW) projects, working with cutting edge technologies in products that protect our warfighter.

Deliverables for this role include:

  • Participation on collaborative, cross-disciplined integrated product teams, often employing agile system and software development operations to plan, specify, design, test, and integrate complex software and systems solutions.
  • Responsibilities include inventions and innovations of new products and technologies, from architecture and design, through integration, lab test, field test and system verification.
  • Collaborating effectively with other programs and senior technical contributors, in addition to producing planning and technical work products for internal and external customers to form original solutions to complex problems.
  • The candidate is responsible for developing software requirements and FPGA level interface requirements derived from system level requirements, developing associated architectures, leading simulations and analysis and testing of the software in a laboratory setting.
  • The candidate will work in an advanced product development team environment with systems and software engineers.
  • This position will require occasional business-related travel. 
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Basic Skills include:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in software design, integration and test utilizing C / C++ OR similar languages.
  • Experience with real-time embedded microprocessor system development, system on a chip software design, FPGAs, high-speed transceivers, signal analyses and signal generation.
  • Experience with the application of embedded Linux, RTOS, or bare metal operation systems in real-time applications.
  • Experience with software algorithm development
  • Lab experience in testing of products using logic analyzers, high-speed oscilloscopes, signal generators, and system on a chip debugging tools
  • Experience with interfaces and bus standards such as: VME, PCI, PCIe, VPX, or Gb Ethernet
  • Digital/Analog signal processing design skills working with ADC’s and DAC’s Real-time high speed data analysis
  • Clearance and Citizenship Requirement: Must have an Active/Current DoD Secret Clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience in software lifecycle phases: software architecture, system/software requirements analysis, design, implementation, verification testing, system integration, and post-delivery maintenance.
  • Education: Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of relevant software development experience.

Advanced Skills include:

  • Knowledge or experience designing with Xilinx or Intel FPGAs or similar products.
  • Possess skills to handle fast pace and dynamic product development environment including engagement with systems and electrical engineers.
  • Experience working closely and directly with the customer.
  • Experience with machine learning
  • Advanced signal processing and simulation

The salary range for this role is 130,000 USD - 272,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
