The Blood Gas and Electrolyte Research Department at Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz, Switzerland is dedicated to developing and upkeep of devices that monitor vital functions of critically ill patients. These devices serve various purposes, including the monitoring of ventilation and other bodily functions in intensive care units or emergency rooms. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, these devices played a crucial role in the field.

In this role, you will play a key part in the research and development of data infrastructure associated with these instruments. You'll work within a diverse, international team, contributing to enhancing the department's productivity and aiding in the improvement of device performance.

This internship position is located in Rotkreuz, Switzerland. Home-office is partially possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop data solutions that meet their requirements
  • Build, improve and maintain data processing pipelines
  • Design and implement data models to support data analytics and reporting
  • Design and implement data analytics tools
  • Conduct quality assurance testing to ensure accuracy and completeness of data
  • Identify opportunities to improve data workflows and processes

Who You Are

You are enrolled or have completed your Bachelor’s or Master’s studies at a university, preferably in the field of Electrical or Medical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar with strong coding skills within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship.

Furthermore

You are fluent in English written and spoken, with German as a plus, and you convince us and our 

collaborators with the following skills and competencies:

  • Experience with Python is required, Matlab is a plus
  • Software coding by commonly used best practices is required
  • Experience with databases (SQL, noSQL, etc.) is a big plus
  • Cooperatively work in a multidisciplinary and multinational team
  • Communicate needs and results in order to contribute to decisions
  • Prioritise subtasks on an individual level

Technical details:

The preferred start date for the internship is September 2024. Please state your preferred start date and the desired duration of the internship in your application. Initial duration is 6 months with the possibility to extend to 12 months.

Part-time employment is not possible. 

The application deadline is April 30th.

Interviews will take place in the second and third week of May (between May 13 and 23).
