Under the general direction and supervision of the Unified Communication Manager, the Unified Comm Engineer II has responsibility for the planning, design, support, installation and maintenance of the corporate Email, Messaging, Collaboration, and Email Security applications and associated hardware and software. Responsible for DAG operations, especially in regard to Database activation and failover. Uses PowerShell skills to effectively and proficiently troubleshoot and supports all UC platforms. Responsible for tracking, reporting and identifying mail flow issues in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Performs operational maintenance and troubleshooting of including but not limited to Mail flow, Exchange, MS Teams, Proofpoint, O365 and ZIX monitoring tools.
  • 2. Tests, evaluates and installs new hardware, software tools. Oversees the development of work plans.
  • 3. Create Custom PowerShell scripts to alleviate most administrative tasks, as well as retrieve information for reporting across the Messaging platforms.
  • 4. Track messages throughout the enterprise and identify mail flow issues and resolve them in a timely matter.
  • 5. Resolve Remedy trouble ticket and work orders to meet department's SLA. Communicate well and provide support to end user.
  • 6. Maintain corporate wide communications standards and procedures. Provides technical guidance for team members.
  • 7. Perform administration functions for the Production environment, ensuring proper security access, proper backup and smooth operations.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related disciple or technical training and/ or related experience equivalent in Exchange/ M365/ Email Security.

EXPERIENCE

At least five (5) years of experience in a technical services function in a complex distributed network recommended. Experience in technical services Exchange, Archives, Microsoft 365, Email Security, and ZIX monitoring tools preferred, along with proven track record to excel as an UC Engineer.

LICENSURE

Microsoft Exchange, and M365 experience required. Experience working in a complex enterprise network environment preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Experience and knowledge in the following areas: In maintaining the operational stability of Exchange and MS Teams, patching/maintaining the environment, scheduling maintenance and reporting on performance. Solid experience of Exchange Integration with Archive platforms such as Ipro Archive. Provide escalation support for the desktop team and interface with other Infrastructure departments.
