Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Junior Pricing Actuary (d/m/w) to work in the Quantitative Underwriting Support (QUS) team based in our Cologne office. This is a hybrid role.

Your Role

  • Pricing of reinsurance treaties in collaboration with underwriters, especially German language submissions.
  • Continual improvement of existing processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.
  • Developing strong working relationships with the underwriters.
  • Supporting International Pricing with tool maintenance and development during quiet periods.
  • Ad hoc support for the wider Actuarial and Underwriting Teams as required.

Your Profile

  • Excellent academic background of a technical or mathematical nature.
  • Undertaking actuarial training from a recognized association (DAV/IFoA/CAS/etc.).
  • Experience with insurance is essential; experience with reinsurance pricing would be beneficial.
  • Excellent skills in Excel and experience with a programming language such as VBA, R, Python, or C++ would be beneficial.
  • Fluent in German and English.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively with people from all areas of the business but also able to work independently.
  • Cultural fit for the team and being open to challenges, willing to pitch in, and approachable.
