Operations Analytics co-ops will work with analytics professionals supporting one of the following functions or departments:
- Competitive Analysis & Schedule Support (CASS) - Optimize aircraft schedule to maintain peak on-time performance
- Corporate Safety, Security & Compliance (CSSC) - Support the safe and secure operation of the airline
- Crew - Pilot and Flight Attendant operations and performance efficiency
- Delta Connection (DC) - Support end to end analytics and cross-divisional operational initiatives and improvements for the operation of Delta’s regional airlines
- Flight Operations (FOP) - Aircraft and gate to gate operations and performance
- In Flight Services (IFS) - Customer onboard experience and catering operations and performance
- Operations & Customer Center (OCC) - On-time flight metrics
- Technical Operations (TOP) - Maintenance operations
Though individual responsibilities will vary by function, some examples are given below:
- Measure current operational performance and/or customer satisfaction
- Identify optimization opportunities to reduce injuries and security line wait times
- Research, analyze and interpret operational data
- Develop new reports and dashboards and automate existing ones
- Perform reliability/root-cause analysis for parts and maintenance
- Evaluate and provide recommendations for improvement of key operational metrics including aircraft time at gate, gating efficiency, and feasibility of aircraft schedules
- Seek operational improvements to reduce aircraft taxi time and flight time
- Maintain, run and improve staffing models to support airport operations
- Provide strategic and operational support and develop performance metrics and goals
- Develop success factors and statistical evaluations of new procedures and systems
- Students must be able to complete the below schedule while actively enrolled in school:
- Fall 2024
- Summer 2025
- Spring 2026
- Undergraduate students in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Economics, Industrial Engineering, or Information Systems in a 4-year degree program
- Must be available for three alternating semesters
- Candidate is team oriented and highly supportive of continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong organizational, project management, and verbal/written communication skills are essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis
- Proficiency in BRIO or similar database query tool knowledge and Macro programming is strongly preferred
- Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
- Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
