This is a hands-on position in a multifaceted television production unit. As a Senior Financial Accounting Analyst of Disney Television Studios Controllership, you will perform essential accounting duties in an upbeat, team environment supporting 20th Television, 20th Television Animation and Searchlight TV. The 20th Television Controllership team provides financial statements and analysis to Corporate Controllership and Disney Television Studios Management. This department is responsible for reporting the financial performance of hundreds of shows over different markets, covering 20th Television, 20th Television Animation and Searchlight TV. 20th Television is passionate about process improvement, standardization, reducing complexity and efficient use of technology. The team’s objectives are to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the overall team while enhancing the value and accessibility of the data crafted by the accounting processes which will enable the commercial teams to drive toward greater revenue growth and margin improvements.

The Senior Financial Accounting Analyst of this team will be responsible for various key functions that support the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes including but not limited to performing journal entries and roll forward schedules, TV Joint Venture accounting, monthly reconciliations for accounts receivable, intercompany and participation/residuals as well as researching and analyzing variances. This role will also compile and prepare supporting schedules for various accounts receivable billings to the platforms. This position will work closely with other internal Disney divisions, including Corporate Controllership, Production, Business Affairs, Media divisions, FP&A, SOX and distribution teams and will play a meaningful role to assist the team to prioritize tasks, keep track of the project processes, along with various ad hoc requests as needed.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

Skills:

  • Strong Excel skills with ability to extract data, use pivot tables and leverage macros
  • Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills
  • Knowledge on using various systems including SAP, EDP or similar enterprise level software
  • Positive “can do” demeanor

The hiring range for this position in California is $101,790 to $124,410 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
