Purpose of Position

This role supports the Plant Controller in various closing, reporting, inventory management and business planning activities for Timken’s North American Rail plants (Mascot, Ogden, Lenexa). As an important member of the North American Rail Management Team, the Senior Financial Analyst will help drive the financial performance of the plant and ensure that economic rigor is applied to the decision-making process. This includes efforts to reduce invested capital, improve cash flow, and drive continuous improvement in cost and productivity. This role will be responsible for communicating results and analysis with the Plant Controller, the Plant Management Team and Timken corporate, as required. 

This position is based out of the Mascot, TN location.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements/KPI reports for all Rail plants in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
  • Work closely with the Plant Controller and Plant Management Team to ensure that all parties have a clear and accurate picture of the plants overall financial performance.
  • Support the preparation of the plants’ business planning process, incorporating productivity and cost targets for both manufacturing and sourcing in the OE, Reconditioning and Remanufacturing processes.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly rolling forecasts and provide plant and operations leadership with insight and commentary for all major variances from both plan and prior forecast.
  • Assist Plant Controller in providing financial guidance for all plant capital investments and related business case justifications.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining accurate standard/full cost data for all products, working with both product management and business management on new product development, new business opportunities, and execution of existing contracts.
  • Help ensure proper internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets.
  • Support all internal and external audits. 
  • Work independently to complete required tasks and communicate results. 
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Have flexibility to travel to satellite locations as needed, mainly for annual physical inventory (< 5%).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with at least 4 years finance and/or accounting experience, preferably cost accounting
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong analytical and variance analysis/root cause analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Plant accounting experience
  • Experience with SAP 
  • Experience with data visualization tools
