Summary of Intern Responsibilities: 

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled intern to join our Security Operations team for a summer internship. The primary project involves creating and implementing 10 automation scripts aimed at enhancing our capabilities in Security Monitoring, Triage, Incident Response, and Forensic Captures. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about cybersecurity and eager to make a tangible impact in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

Preferred Major/Course of Study:

Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Assurance, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.

Required Skills: 

Strong candidates will be able to demonstrate numerous of the below desired skills.

  • Proficiency in Scripting Languages: Strong knowledge of Windows PowerShell, Bash, SQL, and Python for developing efficient scripts.
  • Understanding of Operating Systems: Familiarity with Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems, as PowerShell and Bash are primarily used in these environments.
  • Basic Cybersecurity Concepts: Knowledge of cybersecurity principles. Understanding of threat detection, system vulnerabilities, and security protocols.
  • API Interaction Skills: Experience with APIs, as scripting often involves interacting with various application interfaces.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot script issues and optimize performance.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to write clean, well-documented code that follows best practices and is easy to understand and maintain.
  • Version Control Systems: Familiarity with version control systems like Git, as scripts often need to be versioned and collaborated on.
  • Basic Networking Knowledge: Understanding of networking concepts, which can be essential for scripting related to security and system administration.
  • Time Management and Organization: Ability to manage time effectively and stay organized, especially when working on multiple scripts or projects.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills for collaborating with team members and potentially explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
