Description of the job title

The adaptation of trailers to accommodate imaging systems requires working with customized trailer providers who are experienced with this type of vehicles.

The work involves engineering and project coordination activities aimed releasing new offerings of PET/CT and SPECT/CT in a mobile setup according to GEHC requirements.

Design activities would consist of layout of the various scanner subsystems to accommodate a mobile installation, design of supporting brackets and other parts as needed, definition and execution of thermal, vibrations, safety, acoustic tests and road tests to qualify the integrated scanner to trailer solution for clinical use; creating the safety documentation related to the mobile specific configuration, create the supporting engineering documentation required to release the integrated solution and formally release the engineering change (ECO).

Project coordination activities would include setting a workplan in place, tracking the tasks, setting the pace, and communicating progress to a variety of stakeholders – engineering functions, program managers, and product managers.

Each such mobile configuration is unique and considered to be a project which requires management of its tasks and interfacing with various functions inside GEHC and with the trailer provider.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Mechanical design of parts and assemblies derived from the need to install the MI systems inside the trailer. This includes customized parts for the mobile specific installation,
  • Creating and maintaining the BoM related to the installed systems via ECR/ECO process,
  • Building safety files for products by executing the calculations required to provide safe and effective installation of the various sub-systems inside the trailer (gantry, chiller, power units, cables, etc.). These include mainly the definitions of the anchorage for the system due to dynamic forces and heat load and heat removal requirements.
  • Participating with the trailer provider company in the definition of the system layout inside the trailer to provide clear and safe access for the patient, operators, and service personnel, while accounting for the service requirements during preventive maintenance or other service procedures.
  • Participate in the definition and monitoring of the testing required to certify the trailer according to GEHC internal standards and other local country regulations when applicable. This includes communication with testing providers, mainly in the USA.
  • Communicate with GEHC internal external function related to the mobile configurations. This includes system and other R&D engineers, program leadership and representatives of the trailer company engineering and other functions.

Essential qualifications /requirements

  • Mandatory: 1st degree in mechanical engineering,
  • Work experience of 2-3 years in mechanical design in a multi-disciplinary industry
  • 2-3 years’ experience in project management: task definition and execution, monitoring timeline, follow-up on tasks progress, etc.
  • Mandatory: Fluent English at presentation level in technical design reviews and discussions, Zoom/Teams calls and in writing,
  • Mandatory: Good personal, teamwork and communication skills, enthusiasm from study, self-motivated, results oriented,
  • System level understanding in multi-disciplinary project environment,
  • Definition of testing and report writing.
