Financial Reporting Analyst

The Financial Reporting Analyst is primarily responsible for working with the team to ensure timely and accurate reporting to external parties. This role requires expertise in the monthly close and consolidations process, cross-functional coordination with different teams, and ability to manage various projects independently. The analyst will play a crucial role in the monthly close and consolidation process, the expense control function, and identifying scalable solutions to improve on accounting and reporting processes.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Own and coordinate the monthly close and consolidation process, ensuring precision and adherence to established timelines within the finance domain.
  • Conduct detailed reviews, tracking, and reconciliation of estimate to actual differences across multiple sources and teams throughout the firm.
  • Lead the global expense estimate process across finance, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Develop a strong understanding of the firm's estimate and actualization process, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Drive efficiency and improvement projects in collaboration with various teams across the firm.
  • Analyze processes and data flow, identifying potential risks, and propose preventive controls.
  • Conduct multifaceted expense reviews, utilizing diverse metrics and perspectives to provide comprehensive insights.
  • Build a solid understanding of the company’s global monthly expense recording process, identifying areas for improvement, and proposing scalable solutions to reduce risk and increase consistency and transparency.
  • Enhance, develop, and review monthly, quarterly, and annual analytics to identify data gaps on a global basis.
  • Perform analytics at the master fund level on a regular basis (quarterly and annual).
  • Assist with the coordination of the annual audits.
  • Assist with the preparation/review of financial documents and footnotes for the master fund, trading subs, feeder funds, and management companies.
  • Maintain a flexible approach to meet the changing needs of the team. Complete various ad hoc projects and analyses to support the Finance group.

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • 5+ years in a Financial Reporting or Accounting Role (e.g. preferably public accounting background and/or private accounting background)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and summarize large amounts of data in an efficient manner
  • Solid analytical skills and judgment – strong attention to detail
  • Strong technical proficiency with web applications and MS Office (strong Excel skills)
  • Capability to multi-task and deliver work products quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills
  • Demonstrates thoroughness and strong ownership of work
  • Ability to build relationship across the firm and able to influence stakeholders at multi levels
  • Ability to be flexible and able to work as part of a team to meet project timelines
  • Solid understanding or familiarity with the accounting for different types of financial instruments, including derivatives
  • Familiarity with Oracle is a plus
  • CPA is a plus

The estimated base salary range for this position is $70,000 to $160,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. Millennium pays a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. When finalizing an offer, we take into consideration an individual’s experience level and the qualifications they bring to the role to formulate a competitive total compensation package.
