There is an opening for the role of Product Safety Technical Lead Engineer with Product Safety team within Global Product Engineering (GPE) function which is part of Lam India Global Hardware Team (LIGHT) organization at Bengaluru. This exciting opportunity involves taking the lead in ensuring the utmost safety for our most vital product lines. You'll collaborate directly with our talented engineering community, ensuring that safety requirements are seamlessly integrated into the product designs. This position will be based out of Bengaluru, directly reporting to the leader of systems team - LIGHT GPE and closely working with the Engineering & Cross functional teams at Lam India and other regions.

Job Responsibilities

• Performs safety risk assessments on equipment, assembly and component designs to comply with SEMI Guidelines, UL Standards, CE and other industry standards. Having proficiency in the SEMI2, UL and CE standards.
• Utilizes multi-disciplinary skills, takes full safety responsibility, including systems analysis, hazards identification and assessment, and implementation of countermeasures to protect workers and the system against those hazards
• Resolves product safety issues that arise from the results of a 3rd party evaluation
• Ensures changes and upgrades of the equipment continue to meet safety guidelines and standards, and generate necessary safety notices & bulletins
• Reviews Engineering Changes and Problem Reports from safety standpoint to recommend preventive actions for safety hazards
• Collaborates with India and US-based Mechanical, Electrical and Product Engineers for safety and design changes
• Works with cross functional team and peers across the globe to select, test, implement and roll-out important design processes and BKMs
• Supports SEMI and other 3rd party safety evaluation
• Leads & supports the design reviews and have ability to signoff designs from safety aspects
• Develops test procedures to evaluate component safety per safety guidelines

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor / Masters in Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial / Industrial Safety Engineering with minimum 5 years of experience and up to 10 years in product safety 
• Proficient in equipment and personnel safety requirements to evaluate:
• Structural, vacuum and pressure loads, ergonomic, thermal, flammability, service, component layout/spacing, gas cabinet containment/exhaust, labeling, manuals/procedures, electrical/interlocks, hoists/lifts, chemistry and other considerations
• Experience with capital equipment or similar industry in the role of systems safety Engineer, for e.g., chemical process, medical instrumentation, automotive, aircraft, etc.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a track record of success in cross functional, multi-national work environment.
• Demonstrated leadership skill in decision making and problem solving in absence of complete or accurate data.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in semiconductor industry
• Knowledge of SEMI, UL or equivalent safety standards
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
• Experience in working with cross-disciplinary teams (including mechanical, electro-mechanical, software, process, manufacturing engineers) for major projects.
• Experience working with, and management of 3rd parties to achieve full compliance
