About the Opportunity 

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Mechanical Engineering capability. The successful candidate will play a key role in our organisation, collaborating closely with clients and stakeholders. They will be responsible for scoping, estimating, managing, and delivering projects. 

They will address and resolve Mechanical Engineering issues within a multi-discipline project using their technical capabilities and engineering judgement, applying their skills, or generating innovative solutions as appropriate whilst simultaneously interacting and collaborating with our engineers from other disciplines and offices to deliver projects on time and to budget.

Projects will vary in scale and complexity. You will be engaged across the complete project delivery lifecycle from initial project definition and FEED studies to detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover to operations. 

This position will require regular attendance in our Winnersh (Reading) office with frequent client site visits to develop stakeholder requirements and build critical relationships for success. Your responsibilities will include:

  • You will lead in upholding quality of engineering throughout the engineering lifecycle of assigned projects or work packages. This includes producing and reviewing technical documentation, for example technical reports, engineering calculations, specifications and presentations.
  • You will lead in upholding the safety and performance requirements, including managing verification activities.
  • You will have the experience and ability to develop and advise on technical solutions, generate innovative and / or technically differentiated solutions to deliver added value for our clients.
  • You will make or facilitate timely critical technical decisions that steer the project to delivery in a timely manner, whilst meeting performance requirements and managing risk.
  • You will be responsible for supervising and co-ordinating suppliers and contractors on-site and in the supply chain and be able to act as an intelligent customer, clearly defining requirements and assuring delivery to the technical specification.
  • You will support and develop engineers working within the engineering team or project and in conjunction with the project manager for creating and maintaining a motivated team.

Here's What You'll Need:

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent, and relevant professional experience in an engineering role. Alternatively a HND in Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent qualification level with a greater breadth and depth of experience and knowledge.
  • Attained or working towards Chartered Engineer status with a suitable professional institution.
  • Proven ability in a project or mechanical engineering role, leading delivery of technical solutions and verification of compliance with a specification through analysis, testing or commissioning on projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage your own time and workload to deliver against agreed milestones.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member within a multidisciplinary team liaising directly with team members and clients.
  • Experience in supervising multidisciplinary project teams of engineers and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to achieve a minimum of SC clearance.
