Responsibilities:

  • Supervise multiple employees and manage the daily operation activities of the business office.
  • Develop, analyze, and review budget proposals for multiple locations within the UVA Bookstores umbrella.
  • Gather and organize information from a variety of sources to establish reporting and data banks for use in analyzing and creating future plans and forecasts. Prepare and present reports of findings and recommendations to management. 
  • Assess income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for the University, and research financial information to make well-informed decisions about future investments.
  • Prepare quarterly operating activity reports for Business Services
  • Reconcile cash and credit deposits from NetSuite POS, ERP and SCA to Workday for all locations.
  • Assess the University's past performance to provide an estimate of future performance.
  • Study financial data to prepare forecasts of economic conditions and prepare financial reports for proposed future pricing for management and Board of Visitor approval.
  • Process year end transfers to Reserve accounts and coordinate with Business Services Finance Director to seek required approvals for transfers to Access UVA.
  • Enter payroll costing allocations for new employees, students, and Federal Work Study students.
  • Collect and prepare data for UBIT calculations for bookstore locations.
  • Perform data mining, construct database table, build queries and reports to consolidate required data reporting, work with power pivots, Qlik and other statistical tools to provide accurate reporting for the Business Unit’s needs.
  • Provide interpretation and recommendations regarding all levels of financial activity.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute policy implementation applicable to the installation of improved financial operations. Provide specialized technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant subject
  • Experience: At least seven years of experience in a financial discipline, likely with supervisory experience. 11 years of relevant/finance experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Licensure: May hold CPA or other advanced financial certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of financial principles and analytical techniques.
  • Experience in higher education service-related setting with in-depth knowledge of accounting, finance, financial reporting systems, data mining and data manipulation.
  • Knowledge of Workday and Oracle based systems or similar financial database systems.
  • Experience in IT/finance/operational cross-functional projects and developing presentations for senior management and knowledge of policies and procedures in a state-funded higher education system.
  • Preferred Licensure: CMA, CFA, CTP, or CPA.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $70,000-125,000 commensurate with education and experience. This is an exempt level, benefited position. For more information on the benefits at UVA, visit hr.virginia.edu/benefits.
