ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a hands-on role that will be responsible for designing the machinery to test, characterize, and qualify new products. This role will drive the validation of concepts via early analysis, prototyping and testing, and work with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure that project requirements are managed to achieve optimal experiences for our customers. In addition, they will troubleshoot and make improvements to existing test instrumentation products, and work closely with other members of the engineering staff to create optimal solutions to difficult design, structural, thermal, and automation issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Taking initiative and ownership of high level work
  • Negotiating and driving alignment with product architects, managers, and other key stakeholders across multiple disciplines
  • Designing, implementing, and driving to completion complex systems spanning several engineering disciplines including EE, ME, FW, and SW
  • Developing high complexity sub-system designs, including: architecture, control systems, mechanical assembly, schematic work, and validation/verification
  • Establishing clear, concise test plans, and controlling test plan execution
  • Hosting and attending design review meetings within the larger development team
  • Supporting build, debug, validation, and fine-tuning equipment for release to production
  • Participating in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balancing product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits
  • Establishing great working relationships with vendors and managing their deliverables, including: DFM, kick-off, bring-up, and qualification

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 8+ years of relevant Mechanical Engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: product design, new product introduction, test engineering, manufacturing support
  • Experience in designing consumer oriented products using a broad range of processes and materials, with an emphasis on cosmetic plastic molding and metal parts (sheet metal, CNC, extrusion, etc.)
  • Experience with medical devices or other regulated products is desirable
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hardware mechatronic systems, including experience in designing, fabricating, and integrating mechanical and electronic components
  • Experienced in developing and testing both software applications and mechanical systems, ensuring they work together
  • Experience in Python and C++ software development, data structures & algorithms is a plus
  • Prototyping background: Have a maker mentality that allows you to prototype quickly while also producing robust systems that sustain through heavy use and have well-documented construction and troubleshooting guidelines
  • Expertise in one (or more of) the areas of: Statistical Analysis, Design of Experiments, FEA, CFD, Thermal Design, DFMEA, DFA, etc
  • Expertise in 3D MCAD, Solidworks preferred

EDUCATION 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

SALARY RANGES:

Salary varies by role, level and location, and is dependent on the cost of labor in a given

geographic region among other factors. These ranges may be modified at any time.

SALARY RANGE:

$132,000—$182,000 USD
