JOB SUMMARY:

The Valuation Associate position is a financial professional focusing on interpreting and analyzing financial statements, researching accounting issues and market conditions, and creating and posting journal entries. Additionally, this role collaborates with other Federated staff to obtain information needed to assess a client’s business value and identify potential risks. The Valuation Associate provides a high level of customer service to clients while communicating status updates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Ability to read and interpret financial statements; basic tax return knowledge a plus
  2. Work extensively in Microsoft Excel, utilizing formulas to apply valuation approaches and techniques to a business life cycle
  3. Communicate with clients about their objectives for succession planning, including providing commentary on financial statements and management’s workflow and how they can achieve their goals.
  4. Knowledge of creating and posting journal entries
  5. Performs other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed primarily in an indoor environment, free from extreme weather conditions. Work may include a moderate amount of noise (business office with computers, phone and printers)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Experience working in a remote, paperless environment
  2. Ability to quickly and thoroughly learn new software
  3. Must have good organizational and time management skills
  4. Attention to detail, ability to self-review and take direction
  5. Must have the ability to communicate with clients and coworkers via email and phone in a professional manner
  6. Willingness to learn and take responsibility for work product is essential

TRAINING, ACADEMIC AND EXPERIENTIAL REQURIEMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar field such as Economics or Finance
  2. 3-5 years accounting experience is preferred
  3. Experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft applications including Excel, Outlook and Word

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA designation Desired
  2. Willingness to pursue business valuation credential
  3. Corporate tax experience a plus
