Job Description

SGS is currently seeking a Laboratory Technical Officer to fill a full-time position based in Notting Hill, Melbourne. The role involves providing duties and technical support within the Calibration, Sales, and Repair Service Business Unit, while ensuring the maintenance of high levels of customer service for both internal and external clients

Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Undertake calibrations of protection level radiation monitors (survey, contamination and electronic personal dosimeters).
  • Prepare calibration certificates for review by QA staff to high standards
  • Maintain records of work completed accurately in job folder
  • Get suitably trained in lab operations under the guidance of other lab officer or team leader
  • Support business in attending scientific technical enquiries under the guidance of instrumentation &/or lab team leader.
  • Assist respond to technical enquiries
  • Assist to provide quotation and project manage for client requests in regards to specific instrumentation or product purchase request
  • Complete receiving and dispatch responsibilities (as needed)
  • Assist other team members where required and demonstrate a flexible and dynamic attitude to the laboratory work flow.

Qualifications

  • Science or Physics degree/diploma/certificate (preferable)
  • Scientific/technical aptitude with desire to learn instrumentation.
  • Relevant experience gained within a laboratory or technical or instrumentation environment (preferable).
  • Customer service experience (preferable but not necessary)
