Job Summary:

Supervises all biomedical functions within the assigned WellStar facility or facilities, including budget development and control, personnel management, clinical project management, clinical technology planning, medical device and system networking and EMR integration, regulatory compliance and customer relations. Reports to the Executive Director, Biomedical Engineering.

Required Minimum Education:

Formal technical training through a two-year associate degree with knowledge in electronic digital circuitry and basic understanding of electronics and electromechanical devices.

Bachelor’s degree in related engineering or engineering management field preferred.

Business function training for personnel management, financial planning and accounting, contract analysis and negotiation and business and health care law.

Required Minimum Certification:

Certification as a Biomedical Engineering Technician preferred.

A+, Net+, CCNA or other IT certifications preferred.

Required Minimum Experience:

Five years as a supervisor of a facility Biomedical Engineering program or program technical group and the associated biomedical staff.

Six years hospital experience as a biomedical technician.

Demonstrated leadership roles in cross disciplinary projects and activities within healthcare facilities.

Experience analyzing and negotiating manufacturer and vendor agreements for devices and service.

Five years’ experience in supporting networked medical devices and systems, including integrated systems sending patient data to various Electronic Medical Records.

Required Minimum Skills:

Solid understanding of general Biomed systems, Medical Imaging systems and sterilization technology.

Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Capable of interpreting building architectural and systems drawings and information.

Able to compose and deliver presentations regarding medical devices and systems to clinical and administrative groups.
