The Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for managing programs, procedures and equipment to ensure that goals are met and plant personnel are safe, productive and effectively utilized. With a focus on PLC programming and SCADA system integration, the successful candidate will be instrumental in driving efficiency and innovation in our manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support the integration and management of SCADA systems, with a strong preference for experience in Ignition by Inductive Automation. 
  • Maintain an industrial controls hardware refresh plan to ensure all control system hardware is up-to-date, reliable, and meets current and future operational requirements. 
  • Planning, scheduling, documenting, and verifying all maintenance work to be performed (planned and unplanned). 
  • Provide control engineering support for the project management of plant capital plans. 
  • Work closely with operations team to effectively maintain all plant processing, packaging and support equipment in proper running order, while meeting all government mandated criteria necessary to continue plant operations. 
  • Improve current control programs to improve efficiency of packaging processes
  • Manage, coordinate and control all aspects of electrical engineering in order to meet agreed departmental objectives.
  • Responsible for plant continuous improvement initiatives and resolution. 
  • Responsible the implementation of new software and updates
  • Manage, coordinate and control all aspects of electrical engineering in order to meet agreed departmental objectives. 
  • Act as a liaison with outside technical consultants and engineers regarding equipment modification, improvements and/or repairs. 
  • Perform other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned. 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with Emphasis in Electrical or Process engineering preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered. 
  • 3+ years’ experience using technologies or platforms such as ladder logic programming for programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human machine interfaces (HMIs), data control systems (DCSs).
  • Experience in risk-based maintenance engineering and cost of goods sold (COGS) optimization.
  • Experience with Ignition Scada Platform. SQL Server Database, Python programming language a plus.
  • Familiarity with ISA-88, OSHA, NFPA, Safe Quality Food 2000 Code (SQF 2000 Code), FM and GMP.
  • Experience in environmental and industrial processing, electrical and mechanical problem solving. 
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and a knowledge of MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems).
  • Broad base knowledge of electric motors, PLC’s, HMIs, Networking. 

Personal & Professional Skill Sets

  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot control and electrical failures and implement repairs.
  • Demonstrated ability to engineer and manage capital and major expense projects within a manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to support the maintenance and operations departments in the daily management of a Plant operation.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC’s programming and problem solving: Allen Bradley preferred.
