Scope: 

The Sales Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to drive sales, provide product training and achieve sales goals across assigned product categories within an assigned region (Home Depot and/or Lowes). You’re responsible for selling Stanley Black & Decker products by identifying, qualifying, preparing and executing effective sales strategies as well as planning and executing store event strategies, forming relationships with key decision makers, and implementing corporate marketing initiatives. This is an active, hands-on position. You'll need to be able to analyze your business, present to key decision makers provide business solutions, conduct training for store associates and sell to end users all while providing service to our retail partners. This includes supplemental down stocking and merchandising as needed as well as climbing up and down laddersThis includes down stocking, merchandising, climbing up and down ladders and lifting items up to 50 lbs.

We're looking for an individual who is self-motivated, goal-oriented, successful when working in both a team-based environment and independently. We're also looking for someone who is persuasive in the use of selling skills, a solutions provider and good communicator. You also will need to be able to build and maintain positive customer relationships and work with diverse personalities.

More About Your Role:

Home Depot and Lowes are two of the top retailers for Stanley Black & Decker products, and you will work within one of these customers. You will support corporate marketing initiatives and your mission will be to ensure those strategies are implemented at the store level while maintaining knowledge of the current industry and competitive landscape.

A typical day would consist of visiting two stores. While in store you’ll focus on building relationships with key store personnel, driving in-store sales through direct selling to customers in the aisles, and through managing our partnership with the Retailer Service Team, providing supplemental merchandising support to them as needed.through merchandising, to supplement the Retailer Service Teams,through merchandising products and selling directly to customers in the aisle. You’re also responsible for managing the maintenance of store fundamentals, and the planning and execution of events throughout the year.

The Territory Manager’s primary responsibility is to drive sales, provide product training and achieve sales goals across assigned product categories within an assigned region. Identify, qualify, prepare and execute effective sales strategies that maintain the existing base of business and support the close of competitive and revenue growth opportunities. 

This individual will visit both Mass Retail stores and Independent Retail Dealers. Lead territory opportunity development and activities that translate to accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual sales projections. This individual will also coordinate with the Regional Sales Director and the Retail Development Manager to drive incremental revenue and achieve targeted sales goals. 

Identify new business opportunities, generate leads, close new business and convert accounts from competitor products. Execute training by demonstrating products, functionality and use in both the Mass and IR Channels. This training will range from local level classes at both Mass and IR retail locations up to large District and Regional Training events. The Territory Manager will also be responsible for communicating and coordinating District and Regional training events, which will require strong organizational skills. Participate and facilitate sales meetings, training programs, conventions, and trade shows. Maintain knowledge of the current industry / competitive landscape including all OPEI competitors and competitive products. Foster productive relationships with retail customers, MTD internal teams and external vendors. The successful candidate will be very self-motivated & hard-working to provide support at a high level to all Mass and Independent Retail locations in a given territory.

The responsibilities of this role will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Grow, develop, and drive sales within a specific region or market for Independent Dealers and Mass Retailers.
  • Daily visits to both Independent Retail Dealers (IR) and Mass Retailers (Lowes, TSC and THD) in assigned territory.
  • Excellent public speaking skills will be required to conduct the numerous ‘hands on’ training sessions and meetings.
  • Develop strong relationships with IR Dealers and Mass Retailers in assigned territory.
  • Generate sales of new and existing products in territory, assessing opportunities, and closing sales orders at IR Dealerships.

Manage visit cycles in territory of both IR Dealers and Mass Retailers.

  • Manage generation of new IR dealer leads in the territory and develop new IR dealers.
  • Perform assessments of prospective dealer’s viability for Cub Cadet placement.

Provide product support and training on products for assigned IR Dealers and Mass Retailers.

Many events and store visits will be working with fellow Territory Managers and Business Development Managers. A strong willingness to work together as a Team is required. 

  • Train current IR Dealers and new Dealers on MTD processes utilizing Sales Force and Dealer Community
  • Assist in managing IR Dealer inventories, execute new programs and on-boarding

Physical labor will be required in the handling, down stocking, training, demonstration and assembly of MTD equipment. Minimum Requirements

  • 3+ years of successful professional experience.
  • Must be willing to travel regionally, work occasional weekends (8-10 annually)
  • Pass MVR check
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Pass all drug and criminal background checks
  • Physical labor will be required in the handling, training, and demonstration of our products
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and Excel computer skills).

  • Ability to routinely tow a product demonstration trailer. Loading and unloading products and supplies on/off product demonstration trailers.
  • Additional Responsibilities will include: Planning, Forecasting, Merchandising, Order writing, Market Plans and Promotion activity.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of successful performance selling and training on outdoor power equipment.
  • 4-year degree preferred, or combination of additional experience and education.

Documented history of exceeding customer expectations.

Strong verbal, written, interpersonal communication, computer and business skills.

  • Ability to analyze data, develop strategic growth plans, and improve financial results within an Independent Dealer market.
  • Ability to work from home-based office environment with extensive overnight travel.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and Excel computer skills).
  • Must have and maintain a good driving record.
