Job Summary:

SKF Magnetic bearings and systems are ideal for applications demanding high speeds and low vibration. With no physical contact, there is no need for lubrication and practically no friction, and the equipment's overall power efficiency is also improved. Active shaft positioning and built-in vibration management are additional benefits of magnetic bearing systems. The Senior Mechanical Engineer provides engineering support for all product lines and assists the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Job Duties and Responsibilities are (including but not limited to):

  • Provide technical support to the Mechanical Engineering team.
  • Design work.
  • Project management.
  • Testing, Validation, and Troubleshooting.
  • Creation, and maintenance, of technical documentation.
  • Product and process improvement including cost reduction and optimization of manufacturing processes.
  • Following SKF EHS and Quality procedures.
  • Provide back-up for mechanical engineering manager if out of office – timesheet review, cashflow review, etc.

Requirements:

  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Registered, or be able to register, as a Professional Engineer with APEGA Experience.
  • Experience with product design, manufacturing processes, and process design.
  • Knowledge (technical/practical/managerial): 3D CAD modelling and technical drafting.
  • Knowledge of magnetic circuits is desirable.
  • Knowledge of materials.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, casting, extrusion, welding, etc.).
  • Preventive and Corrective Action methodology.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting procedures.
  • Experience with Python, C#, VBA is desirable.
  • Travel up to 10%
