We are currently seeking a Manager for our Bioanalytical and Molecular Assays, UK Lab Operations at our newly established Clinical Assay Laboratory in Harwell. This vital role calls for an individual with a robust background in laboratory management within GLP/GCLP regulated environments or similar settings. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting our scientists within regulated bioanalytical and molecular laboratories, including LC-MS, ligand-binding assays, and molecular assays. This opportunity is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, scientifically driven environment, values collaboration, and holds a strong work ethic.

Here's What You’ll Do:

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Develop bioanalytical operations activities, timelines, metrics, and quality standards across clinical studies.
  • Manage biospecimen accessioning for clinical studies, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Utilize various LIMS for efficient laboratory operations.
  • Ensure lab inventory and equipment are managed effectively, complying with SOPs.
  • Oversee the monitoring, tracking, and storage of critical reagents alongside the Critical Reagents team.
  • Spearhead the strategic implementation of new technology to enhance lab automation.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Conduct laboratory audits to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Schedule and oversee laboratory equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain strict adherence to regulations and SOPs.
  • Offer expertise in best practices for operations and compliance.
  • Contribute significantly to the laboratory's daily workflow, including quality control and maintenance scheduling.
  • Mentor and train junior group members, fostering a culture of learning and safety.

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:

  • BSc/MSc in a related scientific discipline is essential, with 7+ years laboratory management experience.
  • Previous experience in a regulated laboratory: GCLP and ICH M10 preferred, but other regulated environments (GMP, Diagnostic Laboratories etc) would be considered.
  • Willingness to learn new concepts and challenge boundaries; adaptability to change 
  • Organization and attention to detail; ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an eagerness to work with and support colleagues in other departments 
  • Proven ability to develop and work independently and to collaborate cross-functionally to accomplish goals in a timely manner
