The Innovation Account Manager (IAM) will be responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing success of innovative programs that Philips conducts in collaboration with clinical partners in Greater China. Within the Innovation Excellence sub-function of Innovation & Strategy, the Account Manager will oversee the program implementation lifecycle for large-scale initiatives that seek to fundamentally shift the industry, enabling Philips to bring value through fewer, bigger and better innovation programs. 

This role will report directly to Head of Clinical Partnerships Greater China and work in close collaboration with commercial account managers, the Innovation Excellence Team, Businesses, and Enterprise Functions.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

Acting as a relationship manager, program manager and clinical liaison, you will navigate and collaborate across Philips Business Units (BUs) and health systems, ensuring that effective and high-quality strategic partnerships are established and maintained. You will help standardize account and program management processes, closely monitor and track program/project deliverables, while ensuring a high Innovation Net Promoter Score (NPS) and rapid program launch cycles. Innovation Account Managers will delight partners and business units through fast-tracked access to clinical insights that allow respective innovation ambitions. 

  • Manage the innovation program with the assigned institution(s) in alignment with the innovation strategies in place at Philips businesses and the respective institution(s)
  • Ensure operational excellence in program management, end-to-end tracking, and timely completion of Innovation Program deliverables according to budget. Maintain an overview of innovation projects (in preparation and on-going). Identify delays and take appropriate actions when possible and escalate to internal and external stakeholders when necessary
  • Contribute to applying active site management excellence at assigned partners (e.g., first contact point for institution and Philips BUs’ requests related to the partnership, NPS/customer feedback report out, governance, site strategic planning, program management of research funnel) 
  • Establish and implement a plan and strategy for the assigned partners, together with external and internal stakeholders, achieving a targeted Innovation NPS 
  • Shape and prioritize the project funnel and translate into projects that are aligned with the strategic innovation intent of the collaboration. Actively support the scoping and approval

of those projects in alignment with stakeholders of both organizations 

  • Manage a C-level stakeholder network (Philips and Partners)
  • Cultivate, engage and manage the relations with the entities and/or individuals involved in the program, e.g., institution, academia, potential 3rd parties, as well as multiple stakeholders within Philips which are geographically and organizationally dispersed
  • Contribute to and where needed coordinate joint grant applications to support the programs, in collaboration with grants offices at Philips and the institution  
  • Identify, develop and maintain joint innovation capabilities that create value for multiple BUs 

The following are required for the position:

  • Master level (MSc, MBA) or PhD preferred in relevant area with at least 5+ year experience in clinical research
  • Business experience preferred, eps. in business-development, account management and/or program management/process improvement 
  • Experience in managing clinical partnerships with major China university hospitals
  • Experience in project or program management including complex multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders 
  • Outstanding communication and influencing skills, and networking capabilities with track record of C-level stakeholder management (clinical and none-clinical)
  • Comfortable in navigating through the complex university hospitals sub-organization dedicated to partnering with industries.
  • Experience with complex contract negotiation framed under master research agreement (Fair market value, Privacy, IPs...)
  • Good understanding of clinical affairs, regulatory and privacy requirements in medical device research 
  • Experience in healthcare informatics, healthcare IT and/or AI is a plus
  • Experience with competitive research funding is a plus
