Meaningful Work From Day One

The position will be responsible for the on-going administration of an outsourced payroll process in Japan and Korea. Over time, the role will also become familiar with the payroll processes and vendor relationships for other regions in order to assist local staff and outsourced vendors with accurate and timely payroll execution.

The Payroll Analyst role will liaise with local payroll point persons, local payroll vendors, local banks, third-party vendors (taxes, benefits, etc) HR, HRIT, Benefits, Compensation, IT,time/leave administrators, HR Master Data Management and accounting to ensure the end-to-end payroll process is completed compliantly, accurately, and timely. At times the payroll analyst may be called upon to back-up payroll processing in various countries.

What You Can Expect

  • Working with the vendor, execute the monthly payroll for Japan and South Korea
  • Build relationships with local payroll point persons in each APAC/IMENA country, as well as with their payroll providers. Become highly acquainted with their payroll processes and calendars and keep such information current in the payroll knowledge base. Be prepared to back-up processing in various countries if/when needed.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders that influence payroll results (HR, HRIT, Benefits, Compensation, IT, time/leave administrators, HR Master Data Management, accounting) to ensure monthly and annual processes (Benefits Annual Enrollment, Benefits vendor transition, Global Payroll Project, and Expense Processing vendor transition) run accurately and efficiently.
  • Work with local representatives to develop and maintain payroll processing calendars and enter them into the payroll knowledge base.
  • Become proficient with Workday Worksheets as well as the business processes in Workday that affect payroll (leave/time off, pay codes (deductions/earnings), integrations (where applicable, etc. Work with countries to optimize the use of Workday as it relates to such payroll activities.
  • Partner with all stakeholders in the payroll process to ensure systems and processes are utilized to the maximum efficiency. Utilize technology to ensure continuous process improvement through more efficient and streamlined procedures.
  • Monitor the T&E/Concur integrations with Workday. Analyze and troubleshoot integration issues, and reconcile transactions loaded in Workday against the Concur system.
  • Ensure expat data is delivered to the external tax service provider each month. Research questions as they arise and perform reconciliations as needed.
  • Participate in testing periodic upgrades to Workday and ensure all test scripts are executed properly and any testing errors are resolved. Perform root cause analysis and develop short and long-term means to address troublesome or inefficient processing issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all payrolls related data and ensure information is provided only to authorized individuals.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Minimum 5 years of Japan/other outsourced payroll administration and legislative experience utilizing a top-tier human capital management system.
  • Experience with payroll interrelationships with accounting and General Ledger (GL)
  • Exceptional customer service skills and high level of professionalism and courtesy in highly charged situations.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills; able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Fluent in Japanese and English - with strong oral and written and communication skills. Ability to communicate in a precise and clear manner across all levels of the organization.
  • Possess the highest level of integrity, diplomacy, and confidentiality. Able to work independently, execute responsibilities, and meet all deadlines with planning, organization, and accuracy in a high volume, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong mathematical skills with ability to research, analyze, and resolve complex time and payroll issues.
  • Work a flexible schedule and overtime when necessary.

What Makes You Unique

  • Working knowledge of Workday, SAP, or PeopleSoft HCM systems.
  • Prior proficient experience with Google Applications or Microsoft Business Suite desired
  • Professional payroll certification as appropriate in APAC/IMEA
