PROCEPT BioRobotics is a surgical robotics company enabling better patient care by developing transformative solutions in urology. With an initial focus on BPH, the company’s AquaBeam® Robotic System delivering Aquablation therapy, is the first FDA-cleared, automated surgical robot for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Aquablation therapy combines real-time, multi-dimensional imaging, automated robotics and heat-free waterjet ablation for targeted, controlled, and immediate removal of prostate tissue. Aquablation therapy offers predictable and reproducible outcomes, independent of prostate anatomy, prostate size or surgeon experience.

SUMMARY

As PROCEPT BioRobotics continues to expand, the R&D group requires a Systems Engineer to lead the ongoing integration and development of multiple engineering disciplines (electronics, firmware, software, mechatronics, design engineering) for our next generation robotic surgery platform. The candidate will work closely with the software, electrical, and mechanical engineering teams in planning and leading design, development and V&V activities across various programs. The role will ensure the product requirements are defined/maintained and the lower-level functional design teams deliver to those requirements. We are looking for an individual that has exceptional teamwork skills, communication skills, is self-motivated, and is enthusiastic about robotics.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively participate in design and development activities for a variety of surgical robotic products in a design control environment
  • Play a crucial role in Product Architecture definition, requirements, risk analysis and FMEA activities.
  • Develop and implement characterization, integration and test protocols. Use findings to drive decision- making and iterate on the design.
  • Use modeling tools to simulate and analyze systems, subsystems and data.
  • Define systems engineering framework in a medical device development environment and rovide technical expertise within the Systems Engineering team and multi-functional project teams to support development objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Product Management, Clinical & Human Factors Engineering (HFE) teams to plan and formative and summative usability studies Synthesizes all gathered information together with technical and regulatory constraints to define a system and its behavior resulting in defining a system specificationOwns system level verification against requirements. Creates test plans, procedures and reports, performs, and analyzes system set up, and conducts verification and validation activities.
  • Review and analyze technical proposals or modifications for design feasibility and system capability Work with software and other specialists (mechanical, electrical, clinical) as part of a focused multi-functional team supporting the development of controls algorithms.
  • Mentor other systems engineering and technical members within R&D on the framework for good system engineering practices during design, development and V&V
