Job Summary/Description:

WBTV is looking for an aggressive reporter to cover our AM shift, Monday thru Friday. This person will excel in breaking news coverage and create unique opportunities across all social media platforms in connection with the role. Additionally, outside of breaking news, enterprise storytelling, that aligns with the WBTV - On Your Side brand, is of high importance in this role.

As the AM reporter, quick reaction and dedication to breaking news coverage across the Charlotte DMA is a must. Additionally, brand-focused storytelling is what we do when breaking news is absent. Pitching stories that align with the On Your Side brand is one of the keys to success in this role.

Please note - primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the information listed above 

Qualifications:

  • Three years minimum experience as a reporter in a TV newsroom.
  • Aggressive in breaking news coverage, along with proven, demonstrated ability to conceive and pitch strong enterprise (original) story ideas that align with the "On Your - Side" brand. Strong writing and the ability to tell engaging stories through visual mediums are essential.
  • A college degree is preferred, but not required.
