Haskell’s Design & Consulting Team unites architecture, engineering, and consulting professionals from across industries and geographies. The Design & Consulting Team serves a diverse set of markets including food and beverage, consumer products, aviation and aerospace, civil infrastructure, healthcare, and Federal Government projects. In this role, you will perform design, detailing, and analysis under the supervision of a Licensed Professional. You will also engage in interdisciplinary coordination with peers in other design disciplines. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Application of Knowledge of Civil Engineering Applications (Conceptual Design)
  • Works independently on a variety of projects from simple to complex, small to large
  • Effectively utilizes innovative technology to design and detail projects under the supervision of, and subject to, final approval by the Licensed Professional
  • Participates in project strategy meetings within the discipline, engages in design concepts, and produces pricing and proposal presentation documents
  • Coordinates work with other disciplines as to dimensions and interference to minimize deficiencies, errors, and omissions
  • Develops an awareness of resources to complete due diligence where limited information is provided

  • Analysis Ability
  • When assigned design-related activities, prepares presentation drawings, and other deliverables as required by the Licensed Professional
  • Performs analysis or basic calculations as required
  • Intermediate to expert use of civil design software, e.g. Civil 3D, SSA, Infraworks, etc.
  • Detailing
  • Ability to read and understand design documents
  • Ability to create professional, non-standard details
  • Construction Documents
  • Assists the Licensed Professional in drawing, planning, production, management, and adherence to the schedule
  • Produces well-organized construction documents of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness, adhering to team and discipline standards
  • Adheres to established company standards and policies
  • Coordinates work with other disciplines
  • Developing awareness of modern civil engineering technologies, procedures, and methods to utilize design tools to compile work
  • Construction Support
  • Works with Senior Designer or Design Engineer, to assist construction personnel in the interpretation and clarification of construction documents as directed by the Licensed Professional, providing timely solutions to field problems, preparing field orders, addenda, and record drawings subject to approval by the Licensed Professional
  • Project Management
  • Maintains orderly work files and prepares clear well-written memos/correspondence
  • Produces well-organized, finished drawings of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness
  • Partners with technical efforts of discipline Interns, designers, and technicians assigned to the project
  • Planning, Scheduling, and Profitability
  • Assists the Design Engineer or Licensed Professional in drawing, planning, production, management, and adherence to the schedule
  • Meet civil design schedule to align with target dates for deliverables
  • Manage personal productivity to maintain a profit margin while executing basic services
  • Identifies situations that may require potential design change orders
  • Professional Development
  • Assist with the development of training programs and makes presentations to staff
  • Participates in trade organizations within the discipline
  • Participates in the development of the group and corporate standards committees
  • Identify continuing education opportunities to expand professional growth and advance the collective ability of the discipline
  • Leadership
  • Keeps apprised of new technologies and assists in the incorporation of the new technologies into the A/E practice
  • Champion compliance with corporate standards and best practices

Education/Experience:

  • High school degree plus a typical minimum of 10 years of experience in applicable design work

Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:

  • Autodesk Civil 3D (current version)
  • Autodesk Civil 3D professional certification preferred

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
