About the role:

Gatik is hiring a Senior Thermal Engineer who will be responsible for the overall thermal validation of Gatik’s hardware and Drive-by-wire components. This individual will be tasked with analyzing systems, developing validation plans and collaborating with cross-functional peers. Your area of expertise is the full range of thermal validation leveraging a cutting-edge tool set. Being hands-on, independent, having good communication and documentation skills are key to succeed in this role. 

This role is onsite 4 days a week at our Mountain View, CA office!

What you'll do:

  • Develop thermal architectures for self driving hardware stacks
  • Take ownership of thermal management components within the HW stack
  • Size thermal components meeting specified requirements
  • Manage external resources for CFD analysis needs
  • Develop custom components required to complete the designs
  • Develop thermal validation plans (DVP) in line with vehicle performance requirements
  • Design and build test set ups to support DVP
  • Lead thermal component, sub-systems, vehicle testing
  • Develop and refine thermal analysis procedures and methods
  • Manage work and deliverables with external thermal validation resources
  • Document findings and reports stating clear recommendations and proposals for improvements to relevant peers and leadership
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering team members to optimize and improve component and system performance

What we're looking for:

  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of experience engineering thermal components
  • Experience in the Automotive, Truck/Transportation and AV/EV industry
  • Excellent thermodynamics and heat transfer knowledge
  • Proficient in convection & conjugate heat transfer problems (Solidworks flow simulation preferred)
  • Experienced in sizing thermal solutions like heat exchangers, heat sinks, cooling fans & conduits, pumps, interface materials etc.
  • Experience with CAD software (Solidworks preferred)
  • Ability to solve hands-on tasks around heavy duty machinery
  • Experience with data collection on vehicles using T-DAQs & thermocouples
  • Completed a development program full cycle
  • Ability to plan, instrument and perform test campaigns (some experience in PWM control, Arduino programming preferred)
  • Strong computer skills with programming and Python scripting experience (preferred)
