Intel Foundry Services (IFS) is an independent foundry business that is established to meet our customers' unique product needs. We are seeking someone who will seize the opportunity to lead definition, design, verification, and documentation for SoC (System on a Chip) development for a test chip and execute the design toward tape-in, determines architecture design, logic design, and system simulation.

The building blocks for SOC test chip will include digital, analog, mixed signal, IO, memory sub blocks and DFT. This will include working with external customers and internal teams for developing requirements for Test Chip design and developing strategies for testing including post silicon.

As an SoC Functional Validation Engineer in IFS you will:

  • Defines, develops, and performs functional validation for integrated SoCs, focusing on validation of IP integration, interaction between IPs, and system level features.
  • Applies various hardware and software level tools and techniques to ensure validation coverage and that performance, power, and area goals are met.
  • Reviews proposed design changes to assess impact on validation plans, tasks, and timelines.
  • Develops SoC validation methodologies, validation test plans, executes validation plans, and collaborates with other engineers for design optimization, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
  • Performs silicon debug to identify root causes and resolves all functional and triage failures for SoC issues.
  • Tests interactions between various SoC features using validation infrastructure.
  • Develops post-silicon validation infrastructure (e.g., performance monitors, behavioral checkers, state space coverage) and test environment used in validation testing.
  • Publishes SoC validation reports summarizing all validation activities performed, reviews results, and communicates to relevant teams.
  • Works with architecture, design, verification, board, platform, and manufacturing teams to maintain and improve debug, validation test strategy, methodologies, and processes for SoC interfaces and to meet desired product specifications.
  • Develops content to create or increase specific IP interactions using a variety of tools and techniques (including patching techniques using microcode, firmware, or custom OS builds).
  • Engages in all phases of the product life cycle and develops and validates content, infrastructure, and bug hunts in multiple environments (e.g., simulation, emulation, FPGAs) to ensure silicon readiness.

Qualifications:

What we need to see (Minimum Qualifications):

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Master of Science degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 1+ years of relevant experience, OR Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience.

  • 1+ year of experience with digital electronics and logic design and CPU Architecture.
  • 1+ year of experience with subsystem HW/SW stack, including the silicon, onboard HW components and connectors and devices, BIOS, drivers, and applications.
  • 1+ year of experience with post-silicon debug using ITP/JTAG, Logic Analyzers and Oscilloscopes.
  • 1+ year of experience with software programming, preferably in C/C++ and Python languages.

How to Stand out (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience, OR Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience developing post-silicon test/debug tools using C/C++ and/or Python.
  • Knowledge of ARM, RISC-V and x86 ISA, PCIe Express, USB, Ethernet, NoC (Network on a Chip), and DDR5/HBM memory subsystems
  • Experience with pre-silicon validation using FPGAs and/or In-Circuit Emulators
  • Prior experience with Intel products or other CPU/SoC products in a post-silicon engineering environment

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in

US, California:$106,231.00-$159,109.00

Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience.

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
