Summary Statement:
The Senior Accountant, General Ledger is responsible for performing all accounting functions related to financial statements. This role is key in Supporting the Executive Director of Finance and General Ledger Manager with ensuring that all journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations are prepared efficiently and accurately. The ideal candidate creates a work environment to support our core values, promotes integrity, teamwork, performance, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction.
Primary Job Duties: – Includes but is not limited to:
- Prepare and perform the reconciliation of balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports to summarize company financial position.
- Observe and suggest recommendations for improving the company’s accounting operation and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles standards.
- Assist in the preparation of tax returns including NGC Gaming Taxes, Entertainment Taxes, Sales Tax and Room Taxes.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state and international regulatory requirements including SOX, gaming regulations, minimum internal control requirements, IRS, anti-money laundering laws and internal control requirements.
- Motivate team members and assist Manager with the training and development of more junior Accountants.
- Adapt quickly and effectively to procedural changes and assist with other special projects.
- Monitor standards, delegation of daily work and running of all reports for the department and property.
- Develop relationships with property leaders to ensure strong communication between FP&A team and operating departments.
- Obtain and maintain position-specific licensing.
- Use personal device/cellular phone for job related operational tasks, job duties, review of company documents, etc.
- Perform other job-related duties as requested
Required Qualifications: Includes but is not limited to:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Applications (example Word, Excel).
- Proficient knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Previous experience preparing and reviewing general ledger account reconciliations.
- Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English.
- Polished appearance and demeanor.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain full knowledge and department rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- At least three years of Accounting and Audit experience in a similar or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or equivalent experience in a similar or related field
- Must be 21 years of age
Preferred:
- Working knowledge and experience with gaming software
- Previous experience working in a large, luxury resort setting.
Certificates, Licenses, Regulations:
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- Position required licenses
