The Adhesives & Fluids business within DuPont serves primarily automotive market and expect to grow fast along with the trend of auto electrification and light weighting. This position is responsible for the new structural adhesive products development to support strategic business growth objectives for auto electrification and light weighting based on market needs in AP. The incumbent conducts research to improve or generate new products, techniques, systems and processes, and is responsible for estimating the resources and time required for the research projects and monitoring the performance of these projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new adhesives products for auto electrification and light weighting in AP based on unmet customer needs, with a good balance of customer technical requirements, producibility, quality, and DuPont commercial requirements.
  • Lead the new product performance qualification at target customers by working closely with cross-function teams. Review new products with PSR team to ensure regulation compliance.
  • Lead the performance qualification for products localized in China according to customer requests by collaborating with global & regional cross-function teams and customers.
  • Explore and develop new technologies/solutions in support of customer needs.
  • Demonstrate strong project leadership and customer centricity.
  • Summarize and report project results regularly with proper documentation. Protect proprietary information.
  • Act as technical professional to provide technical consultative services to internal and external customers. Provide product recommendation, application guidance, and on-site trial support for customer opportunities.
  • Provide guidance to lab technologists, develop experiment and testing plans, collect and analyze data, and work with lab technologists to maintain an accurate and up-to-date laboratory record.
  • Actively participate in professional society activities and industry meetings. Maintain an awareness of technical literature and contacts to define new technical approaches and areas of interest. Pro-actively bring new technology from external community.
  • Interact with customers and value chain influencers to understand the industry technical trend and emerging application performance requirements. Integrate the information to communicate well to internal teams, and pro-actively provide strategic inputs to technology roadmap and multi-generation product plans.
  • Follow the guidelines for laboratory equipment, supplies, training procedures and records according to Quality System standards and Lab Safety requirements.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Polymer Science, or related majors.
  • Typically require a minimum of 10 years related experience, preferably in multinational organizations.
  • Experience in formulation development of adhesives. The industry experience in automotive is valuable. Experience in lab quality system is a plus.
  • Knowledge of polymers, chemistry, adhesives, dispersion of solids in liquids, rheology.
  • Experience with designed experimentation and statistics such as Six-Sigma methodologies.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Demonstrated strong technical capability, particularly in problem solving/analytical ability.
  • Demonstrated capability of working with cross-functional teams for developing and commercializing new products and applications.
  • Ability to take initiatives - identify problem and suggest solutions, proactively think with the team on product development and customer issues.
  • Good interpersonal skills to work with others who have diverse skills, education, and backgrounds.
  • Good learning agility and self-driven.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in Chinese and English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused global environment.
  • Flexible with business travels.
