About the job

Responsible to perform service work, such as troubleshooting, condition audits and maintenance work for customer’s fired boiler or waste heat recovery systems in shipyards, offshore and power plants all over the world. Service work also includes maintenance and testing of boilers and burners, as well as other steam system components, soot blowers, dampers, etc. Service Engineer also gives technical support for service project team and spare part sales.

Main Tasks:

  • Customer focus, key stakeholder engagement, collaboration and communication for commissioning and service-related activities.
  • Deep understanding of project specific requirements and process workflow for site commissioning execution, system operation and delivery.
  • Detailed knowledge and execution of process, mechanical, electrical and controls completion in accordance with company and customer requirements.
  • Create commissioning execution procedures and schedules for all process, mechanical, electrical and control automation tasks relating to Boilers & Gas systems.
  • Deep knowledge of Boilers & Gas systems surrounding environment such as upstream / downstream, interface and dependent processes and systems across process, mechanical, electrical and controls.
  • Ensure compliance with customer and project specifications as well as statutory regulations and classifications society related site activity.
  • Supported by the project and engineering team, the commissioning & service engineer is responsible to communicate internally & externally and implement a plan for bringing the system to safe and operational handover to the client in accordance with project performance guarantees and classification society requirements.
  • Daily internal and external reporting (face to face, verbally and/or written) of onsite activities and progress, detailing status in relation to project and commissioning schedules and constructively highlighting required actions and next steps.
  • Customer focal point for service lifecycle of Boilers & Gas systems equipment including technical support, troubleshooting, callouts, system monitoring, health checks, training, surveys, spares and aftersales enquiries.
  • Champion continuous improvement and actively seek innovation in our business.
  • Ensure relevant documents, certifications and training are valid and up to date.

What you know?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10 years total experience out of which 5 years in a similar industry related position.
  • Advanced/well-developed skills, knowledge and experience within the following disciplines is expected: 
  • Combustion, steam, heat transfer and fuel handling
  • Instrumentation & controls
  • Safety shutdown systems including PLC logic and HMI
  • Mechanical, process and electrical engineering
  • Rotating equipment such as fans & pumps
  • Positive & investigative attitude
  • Quick to adapt, interact and commit to action in providing customer satisfaction
  • Good communication skills in English, written and spoken.
  • Ability to travel extensively for prolonged durations with office-based time in-between assignments (100-150 days per year)
  • Willingness to work in offshore environment
