The Asana Product Security team is seeking an accomplished software engineer interested in maturing Asana’s product security posture and expanding trust with our growing customer base. As a member of the Product Security team, you will spearhead our secure-by-default approach, eliminating the possibility for vulnerability classes to be introduced in our software stack. Your work will enable millions of users to work together effortlessly and with confidence that their data is protected using best-in-class security practices.

You will guide a small team of motivated software engineers that deliver frameworks, libraries and services that make it difficult for our engineering organization to introduce new vulnerabilities. You prioritize the team’s work by methodically analyzing past and present software security defects to identify and realize opportunities to prevent them.

This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. Along with most Asanas, you’ll work from this office in person on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays and Fridays. If you're interviewing for this role, your Talent Acquisition Partner will share more about the in-office requirements.

What you’ll achieve

  • Guide a small team of software engineers in pursuit of ambitious objectives
  • Build new guardrails and frameworks that make our software secure by default
  • Be a subject matter expert and go-to person on how to build secure software
  • Mentor other engineers on a team of 6-8 on topics such as secure and scalable software design
  • Promote a security-conscious mindset throughout our engineering divisions
  • Design and develop clean, beautiful code and leave it better than you found it

About you

  • You have 4+ years of experience in software engineering
  • Demonstrate a track record of delivering high-quality software essential for customers
  • Experience with developing frameworks, libraries, or services utilized by fellow developers
  • Possess a deep understanding of common software security vulnerabilities and their root causes
  • Demonstrate adaptability as a software engineer, whether working independently or collaboratively
  • Committed to delivering top-tier security solutions to enhance our product

At Asana, we're committed to building teams that include a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, as this is critical to helping us achieve our mission. If you're interested in this role and don't meet every listed requirement, we still encourage you to apply.

What we’ll offer
