We are looking for a creative and ambitious professional for an Applications Engineer position in Odense, Denmark, with strong technical proficiency and pre-sales experience in the automation and robotics industry, to support UR partners and customers in pre-and post-sales activities and to guarantee the best product experience together with them.

Role & Responsibilities

In this position, you will be contributing to the technical and application engineering activities of UR’s NEE region. You will be involved with the design and development groups to determine effective applications, and equipment (hardware & software), and help us grow Universal Robots’ successful business.

The Applications Engineer will perform various engineering duties requiring the exercise of judgment and application of standard engineering principles and practices.

  • Pursue initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the group and increase customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain our Showroom with solutions, create and perform demos, test, and debug new software, provide feedback to the R&D teams in Denmark and proficiently work with suppliers, partners, and customers of Universal Robots.
  • Maintain our Training Center, support training curriculum’s preparation and improvement, conduct training for partners and customers, and manage the Authorized Training Partners network as Regional Master Trainer.
  • Monitor and support the technical development of our Distributors, Certified Systems Integrators, OEMs, and other integration partners as part of our UR+ Ecosystem.
  • Provide input to the Product Management team for structuring future development roadmaps for assigned technology areas and perform proper research of Universal Robots competitors to improve our product portfolio, through exhibitions, cooperation with partners, web research, and other activities.
  • Participate well in internal and external relations and act as an ambassador for Universal Robots with key players in the industry, demonstrating the ability and willingness to work towards common goals and support One UR, including navigating safely in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Provide input to the Marketing, UR Academy, UR+, and other value stream teams and make sure they all get the relevant information on time and develop a good working environment with all the involved stakeholders.
  • Work closely and keep in constant communication with the Global Applications Team, making sure you are contributing to our business vision.

Basic Qualifications & Education

To be successful in this position we imagine you will come with:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Robotics or Mechatronics.
  • Three (3) or more years experience in the Robotics and Automation Industry, specifically hands-on installation and commissioning, debugging, and a thorough understanding of the complete lifecycle of Robotics Systems (these are robot arms, PLC and applications peripheral equipment such as grippers, conveyors, vision, pneumatics equipment, etc.).
  • Programming skills in Robotics languages, preferably Polyscope and URScript.
  • Knowledge of a high-level programming language such as C++, Java, and Python.
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams.
  • Knowledge of design software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion, or similar) is a must.
  • Knowledge of offline programming software is required.
  • The ability to analyze problems in a logical manner and provide potential solutions to all stakeholders is essential.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects/ tasks simultaneously and effectively prioritize projects and tasks.
  • Self-starter who is resourceful and initiates work without specific instruction.
  • Advanced English language proficiency, both oral and in-written is required. Other language skills (preferably Polish or Swedish) are a plus.

+30% travel and flexibility to work outside of normal working hours to effectively collaborate with the Global Universal Robots teams.
