Make Your Mark:

Reporting directly to the CMO, the Director, Product Marketing is responsible for identifying, leading and executing BlackLine's product marketing activities. The Director, Product Marketing will craft product messaging and positioning to emphasize ROI, value and differentiation of BlackLine products in comparison to the competition. The Director, Product Marketing will collaborate across the organization to ensure that marketing collateral accurately reflects benefits and features and will draft and deliver a strategic product marketing plan that combines in-depth understanding of the market and BlackLine's current capabilities. 

You'll Get To:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of BlackLine's applications, markets, competitors, and client/user needs
  • Create collateral (case studies, brochures, fact sheets, white papers, presentations, website text etc.) to be used for a variety of audiences and target segments highlighting product strengths, features and benefits.
  • Craft simple, clear and compelling product messaging and positioning.
  • Conduct extensive market research and competitive analysis and recommend positioning and programs to reach new customers.
  • Partner with product management and make recommendations to ensure that product development and support include proper marketing positioning in all communication of launches and releases.
  • Serve as the product expert to the field, including, product evangelism and speaking/print opportunities.
  • Keep abreast of new features and enhancements on the product roadmap.
  • Collaborate across the business to ensure effectiveness of marketing strategies, activities and materials.
  • Interface with the sales department, support, product development, customer success and account management to educate them on product, positioning, and ROI/TCO.
  • Attend product level marketing activities including industry events, roundtables, webinars, online events, trade shows, steering committees, Advisory Councils and other vehicles.
  • Remain current on trends and issues as they relate to the product offering as well as emerging technologies, standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • 8+ years experience in product marketing
  • Experience developing marketing targeted towards the CFO & finance department audience preferred.
  • Strong written communication skills and experience in creating product messaging for a variety of target audiences.
  • Ability to work well cross-functionally, rapidly gain an understanding of financial applications, manage multiple projects with changing priorities and initiate projects with minimal guidance.
  • Keen business sense, with the ability to find creative business-oriented solutions to customer problems.
  • Proven experience drafting, negotiating and finalizing a variety of client material & documents.
  • Proven success working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong results orientation with a dedicated client focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines, prioritize workflow and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a strong collaborator.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, technology or related field.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
