ENERCON’s Energy Group (EG) provides engineering design support to industrial facilities, traditional power generation facilities (natural gas, steam, and hydro turbines), as well as alternative, renewable, and sustainable power generation facilities (waste-to-energy, solar, wind, and hydrogen). EG focuses on green energy solutions that achieve large-scale production with minimal environmental impacts.

Due to our continued growth, our Energy, Renewables & Environmental Services Group is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for either our Kennesaw, GA or Tampa, FL office locations. 

Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

  • Provide technical guidance and oversee technical work performed by others to maintain quality standards. Review and check products prepared by other engineers or subcontractors.
  • Design, prepare, and/or review engineering deliverables for Power Generation and Industrial clients such as design studies, project scopes, engineering estimates, calculations, specifications, bid evaluations, and technical reviews .
  • Mentor and coach junior-level employees, and support group growth plans.
  • Ability to lead Mechanical Engineering project teams locally and out of other offices in support of a variety of mechanical projects.
  • Responsible for project development and execution for a variety of engineering projects at power generation and heavy industrial facilities.
  • Manage budget, scope, schedule, and quality associated with the designated projects with minimal guidance and technical oversight.
  • Apply technical principles, theories, standards, and concepts and make recommendations based on knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to learn discipline-specific tools and software.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Interface with other staff engineers as well as engineers working for our clients.
  • Travel and participate in field installation, checkout, and start-up.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications/ skills

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering degree and 10+ or more years of experience in the design of process systems for industrial & utility power systems.
  • Experience with new greenfield, facility expansions, and/or major facility upgrades.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable industry and regulatory codes and standards pertaining to the power industry.
  • Proficient in typical office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook.
  • Good writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to be an individual contributor and effectively lead diverse teams of engineers and design/drafters.
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license in one or more states.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Employment Requirement

  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings, ENERCON and client specific background checks, and annual motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company and client policies.

Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.
