With our incredible plans for the future of mobility, we have a wide variety of opportunities for you to accelerate your career potential as you help us define tomorrow’s transportation.

Ford Model E is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities – such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling – to create ground-up, breakthrough electric vehicles. By joining the best software, engineering, design and UX talent, you will be a part of creating new technologies and concepts that can be applied across the Ford enterprise. Being on the Ford Model E team means building the future as Ford’s center of innovation and growth through electric and connected vehicles and services.

The Staff Validation and Failure Analysis Engineer will be responsible for working with the different teams to identify failure modes and possible test methods to detect them at the initial development phase, then explore physical test methods to conduct validation, create and obtain data and do a deep analysis of the cause of a failure and the possible solutions for it.

What you’ll be able to do:

  • Conduct thorough and detailed failure analysis investigations by leveraging extensive expertise and scientific knowledge to address complex issues across all systems, modules, and components of our vehicles.
  • Build and maintain solid relationships with various engineering departments to understand their failure analysis requirements, aid in issue replication/simulation, and inform them about the capabilities of our failure analysis and materials testing labs.
  • Take charge of failure analysis processes for situations stemming from reliability tests, product development, and products already in use, ensuring that the primary cause is distinguished from secondary factors.
  • Design, guide and co-create testing methods and procedures for new and existing technologies.
  • Organize, manage, and carry out tests to aid in achieving critical milestones for vehicle projects.

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field.
  • 7+ years of cumulative experience with increasing responsibility in the field of testing and validation, showcasing a track record of achievements and proficiency.
  • 2+ years of experience using 3D CAD software collaboratively (NX, Catia, 3DX, etc.)
  • 2+ year of experience in a factory setting launching a new product

Preferred Requirements:

  • Proven ability to manage projects, particularly in facilitating vehicle launches by providing essential test data.
  • Proficiency in handling a diverse array of structural and functional engineering materials such as metals, polymers, composites, adhesives, fluids, glass, and ceramics.
  • In-depth knowledge of material mechanics principles and metallurgical fundamentals.

Experience with non-metal and composite material failure analysis is highly valued.

  • Comprehensive understanding of stress, strain, cracking, fatigue, and associated failure modes.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications and other information management tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using Confluence, Jira, Asana, or other project management tools
  • An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team
  • A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement

What you’ll receive in return:

As part of the Ford family, you’ll enjoy excellent compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that includes generous PTO, retirement, savings and stock investment plans, incentive compensation and much more. You’ll also experience exciting opportunities for professional and personal growth and recognition.
