Responsibilities:

The Strategic Advisory group is one of the most experienced teams in the industry, and has been involved in some of the largest, most complex transactions in recent years. Our global team focuses on a diverse set of industries, including technology, media & telecommunications, energy, power & utilities, industrials healthcare, financial institutions, and real estate. The Oil & Gas Group advises clients on a wide array of energy Strategic Advisory, as well as partners with the Restructuring and Special Situations Group around distressed energy situations.

PJT Partners is seeking an Engineer who will be responsible for the technical evaluation of client oil & gas assets, assisting with the coordination of mandate execution, and the development of new business activities. Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare client materials to provide technical evaluation using both public and/or private data including evaluation of reserves, production, development, economics, etc
  • Generate technical and engineering presentation materials for pitches, pre-marketing documents, VDRs including preparation of maps, type curve analysis, inventory analysis, well economics etc.
  • Assist in execution of live mandates, including managing data room presentations, engaging on due diligence, etc.
  • Be able to present technical analysis in client meetings, board presentations, data rooms in a clear and concise manner
  • Other ad-hoc projects, including but not limited to, providing basin overviews, identifying new business opportunities, evaluating deal structures etc.

Qualifications:

PJT Partners seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have excellent academic, leadership and extracurricular records. In addition, qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • 3 – 5+ years of prior related petroleum engineering experience with active exploration and production company, oil & gas reserves consulting, or energy investment banking A&D experience
  • Commercially oriented; understands the financial details of cash flow, economics and rate of return, while also assessing technical risk in economic valuations
  • Experience using necessary analytic tools, including Aries, PHdWin, Spotfire, Excel, etc. as well as the various oil & gas subscription services
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter capable of working with little to no oversight; proactive in creating software tools to enhance process efficiencies
  • Ability to identify upside and apply uncertainty / risk for oil and gas assets
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • Python, R, or other experience with other coding language preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to set priorities
